Just talkin' here #3

IF, just IF in some fit of ignorance NHRA was to decide to "retire" Stock Eliminator, what would they replace it with?
Would we all be thrown into S/S like the Junior Stock cars in the 70s?
What would they replace us with that would have the potential to draw the #s of competitors that today's Stock Eliminator can draw?
Would they come up with some kind of an "entry level class" to replace us?
If they did, what would that "class" look like?

Probably toss us in Superstock.

Superstreet is their entry class......Possibly
run it at more Nationals and emphases it more.

It would be a lot less work for them not having to
deal with Stock and the inherent problems.

Nevertheless......I hope it never happens in my lifetime!

I'm sure everyone else has noticed but it just hit me today that the pro mod quota for Gainesville is 50?

They would establish index classes. 8.90, 9.90, 10.90, 11.90, 12.90. Only policing for NHRA would be safety. That’s when I get out of it and rip the “stock needle” from my arm.

When Billy got IHRA and went to .90 classes that was it for me and IHRA.
Does that mean the pro mos will get the good parking spots on the grass at the gators?

Not just Gainesville - it's 50 at every race they run at. That must be why we needed to lower all of the Sportman quotas again.

Like IHRA !!
That would put us all in the same limbo CM and PS racers already have experienced.

Just Brackets and Sputter Start Heads Up..

Maybe split stock into 2 brackets, 8-10.99 an 11- and up. Dial in as usual. If NHRA had half a brain they would open up stock to 80 cars but have 64 qualified field.

I suspect there is the rest of the story. Like the TV schedule. It seems NHRA is infatuated with the Tv schedule although I am not sure who is paying whom to show the show on tv NHRA paying or the tv paying ??? I do know at the Vegas strip the reason the quota is so low is according to the track, NHRA is concerned about the "schedule"" live ??? The vegas track can handle around 800 cars and Jeff Foster the best track manager around
can get this done in a very timely fashion can handle around 800 cars time trials, The reasons the Vegas track has low quota is because of TV I think

Let’s not give them any ideas. Hard enough to get in them anyway, and the fees to get in points meets is getting outta control. Wish I didn’t love class racing so much.

My close friend Charles Norton stated it so eloquently years and years ago. WE HAVE OUTLIVED OUR USEFULNESS ......Myself, I am slowly pulling the needle out of my arm. At my age, I don’t need the NHRA BS ........

I have been a spectator since I sold my S/G car and I ran S/ST before that. Watching those two classes and S/C is boring to say the least. The spectators just don't relate to the throttle stop coming on and off.
That's why I'm building a new stock eliminator car. Hopefully the spectators will prefer to watch my '67 Shelby GT500 race a '69 Camaro heads up in A or B than two cars that shut off and coast to half track and hopefully NHRA will notice also.
