Re: Need main jets for Q jet...
I have dealt with quadrajetparts.com, not for my racecar, but for a 40 year old quadrajet on my '80 Blazer.
I was very pleased with the experience and would deal with them again in a heartbeat. Hope that helps. |
Re: Need main jets for Q jet...
if memory serves.....we got them on E Bay from Ninja Fuel systems or
Quadrajet.com. They did not seem to vary any more in flow than OEM jets. We ran a 86 Mopar with a Quad ten years ago. |

over 250 of them and race Six Stock and Superstock cars of my own with them (We will have four at Winters of our personal cars this week= Two SS/KA, I/SA, N/SA). My 86 360 Dodge Truck (Former Nat'l Record Holder) ran one sometimes. Both brands were legal on that year at same HP The 318 also often came with Qjet in that time period AND it is popular still with 318 GT racers who can claim it ( I have a dozen correct # ones). However, Last time I checked it was factored 4HP more than Thermoquad in GT. No disrespect intended.....You know a lot more about racing than I ever will and I enjoy your posts enormously! |

Re: Need main jets for Q jet...
I’m sorry, John. I don’t recall a MOPAR through my shop with a Quadrajet. Maybe it was “a California thing”? Due to their emissions restrictions, I saw a lot of California vehicles come through with different carburetors, etc. Certainly had much less spark advance. Very different advance curves in their distributors. Much of my business in the late ‘60s & ‘70s was “re-curving” distributors for performance & gas mileage. Very easy to pick up a CA vehicle 5 mpg. Taking away spark advance to lower HC emissions was a very common thing. That also kills drivability, power and gas mileage. There was a big fire at the plant where Rochester built carburetors, so GM had Carter build Quadra jets for a while. Carter would likely be the source for Q-Jets for MOPAR. Hard for me to imagine GM providing carbs to MOPAR. Old as I am, I have not seen everything.

I always wondered why Carter built so many Quadrajets for Delco Rochester. |

I think it was '70 429 Cobra Jets that had a Q-Jet, too. Not sure what the SCJ had. Holley?

Re: Need main jets for Q jet...
Dave Gantz, 429 CJ had Qjet and SCJ had a funky Holley on them. I have a 1970 Cobra SCJ sitting in the shop right now waiting for the owner to come up with the correct carb. The feed line from front to back is different from most.
