Charlotte Stock Full at Grade Point 7

I'm sure going to miss not going to Charlotte this year. Nobodys fault but my own I only got 5 grade points last year.
I think its awesome these races are filling up so quick. It's great for the sport. I will see yall at the Opens getting Grade Points for next year

How is it awesome that a 50 quota race fills so quickly? And it isn't your fault that you can't enter a National Event with 5 grade points. Its nhra's fault. Any racer with 5 grade points has supported nhra and should be able to enter a National Event. When the whip comes down!

Re: Charlotte Stock Full at Grade Point 7

Why should the line be drawn at 5, Bruce?

Currently the line is drawn at 8, which is also the full slate of races that a racer may draw points from. If you do that, fully supporting the series, you can enter any national on opening day.

Apparently there are enough people giving that level of support to fill the nationals. What is the incentive for them to reduce it?

There shouldn’t be an incentive to keep lowering the quota that we could easily fill 85 cars are most nationals. It’s a joke.

I said nothing about drawing the line at 5 grade points. It was my response to Chip's post because he had 5 grade points.

I've made up my mind that I will not support the Lucas oil series, since no matter that I went to 6 division races last season, I still can't even get into a national event. This is just my view and don't care that I sit out the $180. entry fee races.

Where in that post is it expressly stated, or even implied, that the poster is blaming Lucas Oil? It's the name of the series!

I feel your pain Chip. I had 7 last year, was good enough to get in most races. Only have 6 this year and have a leftover National entry from last year. Hope I can use it! Shame we have to spend around $1500 in LODRS entry fees just for the 'privilege' of running a $400 national event! Sport is sure pushing out the little guy.

Oh, boy we have a wordsmith among us today. I said that any racer with 5 grade points should be able to enter a National Event. I did not say that 5 grade points should be the new requirement- as in drawing the line. It would make me happy if nhra returned to 128 car fields for Stock and Super Stock and let the grade points fall where they may. But of course none of this means anything to you since you are not a Stock or Super Stock racer and have no interest in National Events.

Take 128 entries, have a 64 car qualified field. It would eliminate allot of the sandbagging going on and the ahfs would be more valid. Put the extra entry fee money into increased winning payouts.

There you go, a field with mostly 69 Camaros and 2010+ Cars, after a couple of years some others could get in if they didn't quit during that period :D

I think Russia is behind that somehow.

Dopey comment. Bo, being a Pro and an advertiser, must be offered a few perks with his package. I think a couple other advertisers/sponsors get the same deal.

I would imagine he gets an entry because he is a past season champion at several different levels and is probably the car owner.

Re: Charlotte Stock Full at Grade Point 7

I am personally OK with the white firebird getting into national events because of the overall package the team brings to every race. The above people have 24 combined posts and no signatures, troll somewhere else there folks.

Also, is everyone aware that all NHRA track owners get a provisional entry to national events as well? I am not sure if that is public information but it is accurate. There are all types of provisionals out there....

I LOVE Chip's response. In today's world, everyone is all about "woe is me" but we have all contributed to the issues here. Bigger rigs = less parking space, More total classes = Less entries per class, etc..etc...

Things could be worse...does everyone remember when Stock/SS was NOT at every national event? NHRA could very well go to that solution to increase quotas by eliminating certain classes at races. How would everyone like going back to that?

The economy must be doing well enough for all of these racers to be eager to enter on Wednesdays 10 weeks before the event starts.

Atco open is the same weekend as charlotte. Yes its 300 miles further than charlotte for you, but its a grade point and Dave and D-1 run very good opens. Bring a stocker and a superstocker too and get 2 points for the trip. Points can add up fast.

Yes, a lot of guys seem to do it on test and tune day which is the thursday. Its a fun event.....kind of like a mini-indy with top stock, in the past they have had class, cic racing. I'm not sure about class this year, but certainly top stock on friday, which is fun to watch....For elims at the opens round one is bracket style just pick a lane and run who is next to you, after that its laddered. Speeds things up.

Track is close to sea level, good barometer, real good hook. If its cool hang on it will be fast.

I don't tend to eat most track food, but I have had their chili, and ice cream and I think a hamburger or two with the kids all quite good....and been to the bar with the wife.....

They sell VP at the track too. Hoosier truck is usually there also.

The divisional is the next weekend so a lot of people will be leaving their trailers.

I still cant under stand the quota limit thing on the biggest class that they have or could get . I can remember the 128 car bump spot at div. races . Why not 85 car field limit and unlimited enteries and the fastest get in ? It would add to the qualifying action and let the AHFS work possibly . Any how see you at the races .

Here’s a thought, you’re sitting on a waiver/transfer, must be used in a year, and you can’t get in
Entry fee........Poof?
