The cars bring what they are worth at high profile auctions.

No, trying to sell cars like this at this type of auction is a mistake. The buyers at this type of auction are looking for collector cars, they don't know what this is and/or have no interest so the price is low.

I think your right, this is a great buyers mart for new race cars. I could have bought the COPO and saved money over building a stocker from scratch out of a old rust bucket.
Boy did I learn a lesson.

A market is a very interesting thing. What ever someone will give for a product or service at that moment.

$57,200. The bloom is off the rose for these cars. Look how many unsold 2018 Mustang Cobra Jets are still for sale on ebay. I think a lot of people have come to the realization that it takes a lot more money to make one of these cars competitive. The price of the car is only the entry fee. The fact that all of the tracks are closed doesn't help either. I am amazed at how much money people are asking for copo's. Then you see one go through auction and you know what people are willing to pay. I think a lot of "investors" are in for a real tune up on these cars. If you own one, enjoy it and race it when the tracks open. Leave investments to real estate and the stock market or keep it and leave it to your grandson.
