We Don't Need A Live From But.........
It would be great to hear how everyone is coping with all of the adjustments.
We all hope that the folks living in the "Hot Spots", NYC, Detroit, West Coast, and others, are safe and healthy. Let us know your OK. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Well, so far my "Sweetie" and I are fine but we are pretty well "isolated" out here. She is our Township Secretary and had to lay off all of the employees the other day but she still has to go to work. I guess that somebody has to answer the phone and sign checks but at least she is by herself. I've been sorting through long-forgotten treasures (read that junk) in my shop.
Hey, the sun is coming out. Maybe today should be a "Junkyard Day"! |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
It's almost April and I haven't made a hit down a racetrack in 2020 and as you can tell by my other post yesterday I'm getting a little antsy. Fortunately though we have been healthy as well as everyone I know. I think there has only been 5 cases of the virus in our county which is good also. Work has been extremely busy all year and especially of late as forestry products seem to be in high demand!! Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
I am happy to report that everyone in my family and friends are healthy at this point. Work has continued as normal on the job. We are trying to employ social distancing as best we can at the job site. I am a commercial construction superintendent and I am building a grocery store and shopping plaza right now. The local counties have put out a safer at home order for non essential work. The traffic on the roads is lighter than normal so some are staying at home.
Over the past couple of weekends I worked on some of my stuff that needed attention. New water heater in the toter. Took the footboards off and sandblasted the rust and peeling paint. Now priming and painting them. Doing some spring yard work. Plenty to keep me busy. I hope the racing can get started again the first of June like planned. I am entered in the Southern Nationals that will now be run at Gainesville. My wife works in the restaurant business and the shut down of all of the restaurants has been catastrophic for that business. She is still working but most likely her hours will be reduced in the near future. The majority of their employees have been laid off. I live in the Tampa bay area. |

Just Jane and I out here on the river. Only neighbor is a State park. Yard work where its dry. I have the three race cars ready; Great Race, Lemons 24, and Bluesmobile stocker. All of those events are on hold. Today is clean the shop and throw out most treasures that have not been touched in years. Seldom leave the property if at all. Jake/Justeaux/Phish

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
I live in La Crosse Wis. Things are pretty slow here and my whole entire family is doing fine. Working on the usual maintenance stuff getting ready for the upcoming season. As for yesterday we had fourteen confirmed cases but no increase and 3 had recovered in La Crosse county. Race season for us does not start till about the middle to end of April but it looks like that will not happen this year. Sometime around the 1st of June will be the earliest. To all stay safe and good luck this season once we get started.

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Well, as many of you know, we don't post often on Class Racer, because Patsy always does it for us when we all travel😜. But first, let's all give a huge Happy50th anniversary to Larry and Patsy, and ALSO to Jim and Pam Marshall, which we all would have celebrated in Charlotte, next month, but our love and congratulations to you four!
Alice and I are still in Florida in our RV community near Lakeland...trying to keep our social distance at all times. Quite a few racers are here also...Larry Deforrest,Allen Wade, Tim Lowe, Wendell Howes ( had to return home), Robbie Welch, and Tommy DePascalle. We all consider this to be the safest place, as the Corona Virus is supposed to find it harder to survive in heat and humidity. We miss everyone and our racing events, but the MAIN thing here is that everyone stay healthy, and remember ...the government officials label us the elderly...we'll show them!! Joe Tysinger |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
We just got back from Florida after spending the winter in Davenport (near Lakeland). I was able to spectate at the baby gators and hung out with my Div 1 friends. Also got to meet Rebel Kidd (nice guy). We're back in Massachusetts under lock down. Everyone is safe and healthy. We are limiting our excursions to necessary shopping. I hope everyone stays safe and I'm hoping the powers that be will get a handle on this soon...

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Here in Tacoma, Washington things are going as well as can be expected under the circumstance. I talk with friends often and can say that ALL of them are healthy at this point. I PRAY for all my friends (both racing and non-racing) and relatives DAILY. I believe GOD will help us through this ordeal. I get out of the house very little. Groceries and gas are about it.
I just dug out my Lego set and 2 boxes of K'nex building sets. This will help bring out the kid in me and help mental health. Was glad to see the post of your 50th Anniversary. Congrats and many more to Larry and Patsy. Anyone else that has made it that far congrats also. EVERYONE stay safe and healthy and God Bless You All. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
I'm in Long Island NY and we are considered an essential utility so pretty much business as usual at work. All non essential businesses are closed and restaurants are curb side take out only. So many small businesses are going to be hurt or lost. Lives will be lost and many will be sick at some point. Sorry but the outlook here is pretty negative.
Race car needs some attention but I don't want to ship out to a company that may be closed before the work is completed due to illness or non essential demarkation. Hope this all ends sooner than later but that is beyond my scope of work. Stay well and stay isolated. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Great thread...helping the grandkids (5th and 4th graders) with their eClasses (very thankful for teachers making great materials available), essential travel only except for occasional motorcycle rides. Friends and family in Washington, Oregon, Tennessee and last but not least Kentucky are all doing well. Some are worrying too much but that’s understandable I suppose. As for me our Creator God is with us and I rest on His promises.
Going to make a run to the church food pantry, even have some extra TP and paper towels to donate; I’m not only blessed, I’m lucky (wife’s obsession for Costco TP and paper towels is paying off). Take care all... |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
For some reason, accounting offices are considered an "essential service" so we are coming to work every day. We shut down our lobby 2 weeks ago, are handling everything through drop offs, mail, e-mail. With the tax deadline extended to July 15 it's made things a little easier.
I always do a huge shopping run before tax season starts so we have plenty of toilet paper, laundry soap, home basics to get us through. My mom has dementia. We got her moved to a care home 2 days before dad died last June. Her care home has been in lockdown for 3 weeks now. I know she is well taken care of but I worry that she doesn't understand why we aren't visiting. This has been the hardest adjustment for me through this whole crazy time. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Didn't mean to post right after my Mom, but such is life...
My office, the local Public Defender, has been closed to all but employees for nearly two weeks now. I'm not currently able to have office appointments with any out of custody clients. Since Friday, March 20, many of our judicial officers have self-quarantined. At this point, the criminal courts are only dealing with those people that are in custody with constitutional speedy trial/preliminary hearing rights in play. Everyone else has been continued on the court's own motion for 2-3 months, thanks to orders from the Chief Justice of the State of California authorizing all out of custody and "time waiver" cases to be rescheduled based upon COVID-19. I was in court this morning with a client on a no time waiver case. After that was rescheduled, I came back home with files and my laptop. Between the DA and the PD, most "essential" employees are telecommuting and working from home with VPN access to our criminal justice information. I can't speak for the DA, but my office only has 3-5 attorneys going to court right now out of 35 salaried lawyers. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
I guess there are some perks to being a childless hermit, but this is not what I had expected. I'm sane and healthy at home and spend my time hanging out on ClassRacer (where I don't really belong as I are a Bracket Racer). I fried a motor at the end of last season and spent the Winter rebuilding it as a legal SS/CS motor. It's a 302 Ford with N351 heads and a Crane cam with a 351 firing order. Sounds really strong but I haven't even been able to pull it out of the garage yet because my wife is working from home and her car blocks the garage door. I'm one of those insane tinkerers and have been rebuilding things that don't need it like switch panels.
My wife is a Mental Health Nurse and usually works in the community with mentally ill folks who have been through the criminal justice system and been deemed OK to move out to the community. COVID-19 has shut down the court system that usually reviews the progress of her clients that are still held in the hospital. People who have been working 10-15 years to earn access to the community are on indefinite hold. She says they are holding up really good considering. My current lifelines are this forum, DragRacer.TV reruns on YouTube and (insert shame emoji) the iRacing NASCAR sim races. Y'all take care now. |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
Yes I should have noted that my wife Crystal is the full time teacher for Bentley and Piper. For those of you who have met the girls and all their energy you will know what a chore this is. Please say a prayer for Crystal and sanity.....

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
On my winter/spring quest of ihra crate motor stocker to nhra fuel injected stocker I have had several set backs, as in missed the first 3 Div races from waiting on parts to pulling motor back out. But now she is in the trailer, all dressed up and nowhere to party. So now I am bored... oh wait, I am an essential worker so I get to work all day on other peoples cars that may or may not contain the virus. Dealership world, where techs only become essential when a pandemic breaks out. Oh, and My Wife is a nurse who works home health, so she gets to go in houses without proper PPE, cause there isn't any available, and hope she doesn't bring anything home. SO.... as the Bee Gees said "staying alive" is our new path in life.

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........

I was already done with my season and ready to get on with racing and all the jobs around here that have been piling up. Got the call to come back so i made a deal to work 3 days a week, i can deal with that, gives me some time to get the operation going again. I am so glad they closed the beach, you wouldn't believe all the people that are taking this as a holiday, just unbelievable!

Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
One thing about living out here in no where, no where (Ft. Pierre, SD) we don't have the worries others have. The virus is here, so far we have only lost one. Everything is pretty much shut down, my business is also essential (two way radio sales and service, both government and commercial) so we are open normal hours. We are not traveling unless absolutely necessary.
There were several of us planning on going to Dallas for the double divisional. But, that is not happening. Hopefully we will get on the track the 1st weekend of May with the Midwest Class Racer race scheduled for Thunder Valley in Marion, SD. Take care everyone. We will get through this. #5458 Curt Rees |
Re: We Don't Need A Live From But.........
So far my wife and I are OK. She is a CNA, so she is still working although her hours have been reduced because people are reluctant to have anyone enter their homes. The store where I work has been closed since March 20 and will not reopen until May 1 at the earliest. I will be 73 on April 11 and I have asthma, so I am considered high risk for the virus. Because of that I have been staying home and will continue to do so until my doctor at the VA tells me that I can safely return to some semblance of normalcy. Everyone stay healthy and safe!
