Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
No fans in the stands at national events for at least a few races following NASCAR's lead ?
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Honestly I see gates closed before we race without fans. NHRA doesn't have the tv package like Nascar
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
I would guess they will Cancel (1) Gainesville / Atlanta (2) Bristol (3)Norwalk... Would not be surprised if they canceld Western Swing as well. We will see

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
They are probably going to announce their plan to move forward like most other organizations have. Safety and protection protocol etc. it would be catastrophic for them to stay shut down until August. Right now they have absolutely no revenue stream coming in. This is also killing the sponsored teams. No race no money. They would be best off to race with no spectators and just have the pros run for points only toward the championship. The sportsman pay their own way so we are a revenue stream. I am sure that their series sponsors are not paying if there is no racing or TV coverage.

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
I heard that it’s going to be a few National Events cut from the schedule, a few moved to new dates, not sure which ones but, have heard rumors that you won’t see a National Event till August but, still hope on the Lucas Oil side to start in June but, time will tell

NHRA announces revised plan to restart 2020 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series......

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Doesn’t sound promising for June and perhaps even July Divisional races.
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Well they didn't announce a plan they just announced the postponements. No real plan as to when and what the actual remaining season will become. No schedule for the divisionals until the national schedule is formulated. Bummer. I can only imagine what Dan Fletcher has to say about this bit of news.
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
With everything in the country up in the air, I don't know that the ability to do any concrete planning even exists. They only know what they definitely CANNOT do at this point.
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
One would think it would be much easier to get the divisional races going ahead of the nationals. You could just as well run them with no spectators they really don't draw many any way. Limit each car to 3 or 4 people. require mask for every one space out the pits some. and away you go shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
With Denver and Sonoma off the schedule hard to believe Seattle National will happen. On FB some of the National Event tracks are posting their new dates, Gainesville in Sept for instance, and yep, it’s still hot in Florida then but they always draw a huge crowd.
|
Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Denver is the second race.

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
I just heard from one who knows these things, Sonoma is not kaput, it's the week after Vegas and before the Pomona finals. 16 in a row. Seattle will be the first race, then Denver, Brainerd, Topeka, Chicago, Indy... they actually took the travel into consideration. Needless to say any points meets will conflict.

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
If it stays true:
Aug 1 & 2 - Seattle Aug 8 & 9 - Denver Aug 15 & 16th - Brainerd Aug 22nd & 23rd - Topeka Aug 29 & 30th - Chicago Sept 4 to 7 - Indy Sept 12 & 13th - Maple Grove Sept 19th & 20th - Charlotte Sept 26 & 27th - Gainesville Oct 3 & 4th - St. Louis Oct 10 & 11th - Bristol Oct 17 & 18th - Dallas Oct 24 & 25th - Houston Oct 31 & Nov 1st - Vegas Nov 7 & 8th - Sonoma Nov 14 & 15th - Pomona Norwalk isn't on the revised schedule for those who are wondering. Will probably just be like the plan was Sportsman time runs and maybe 1st round Friday and Pros Sat & Sun till completion. Going to be tough if they have weather or because they are so close to the next event Monday will become the next option. |

National event entry will still follow the traditional pre-entry/quota/grade point process. |

NHRA officials have announced that they are working with state and local officials as well as host tracks and teams on a revised Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule, which will be announced SOON The season is expected to resume in August. This is such a fluid situation and there is no actual schedule posted right now. I sure hope NHRA and the professional teams can hold on right now as even with low purses and dropped car counts for the sportsman, I like what we have. I am not speculating but do have my fingers crossed |

You guys are falling for fake FaceBook news
This is the link from NHRA's website https://www.nhra.com/schedule/2020 I know we are all anxious but pay attention - please. Almost none of the comments in this thread are relevant to the real schedule. Look for the word "POSTPONED" in the title line for each race. You are welcome. Ron |

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Good Day,
I don't typically Chime in on most topics but everything so far seems to have a want to race as we all do but some sites say no fans? Now I am pretty much a local racer, my car can run Super Stock but we just support our local bracket program for now. If there are no fans that's is a lot of lost revenue for the NHRA the track and all the local hotels, restaurants, etc... My wife and I try to get to one or two national events a year as spectators. I know how much hotels and such cost and I am sure those places will sure miss the money on event weekends. I am not if the NHRA is looking at the bigger picture. Just my 2 cents C Pud 2015 Drag Pack 426 |

Re: What do you think NHRA announcement will be
Any sport (or whatever) can be scheduled. But the public has been justifiably scared away from going out into the world no matter what my heroes in government say. People (at least not in any number) aren't going to show up for any kind of event, anywhere, until there is a vaccine and/or cure that has been thoroughly distributed.
Human nature is making us tell ourselves that it's ok to go out. That is totally undestandable. But it is what will make the damned virus grow! Even after a cure/vaccine, it will take years to get back to "normal". Just look at how the depression affected our parents, grandparents, etc. I still can hear my mom telling me to "turn out that light"! |
