What tracks are open?

Been looking to go somewhere within 300-400 miles. It’s hard to tell what is open and what is not especially not being on Facebook. My question is where are you located and what tracks are open?
I will start it off, I am in Delaware. US 13 is not open yet but have been doing track rentals I think 10 people max at a time.
Cecil county seems to be closed.

Re: What tracks are open?

I was looking yesterday. Outside of a couple outlaw tracks in PA/Ohio that are trying to run, the closest option is the Carolinas.

Pittsburgh Raceway Park said they're going to do a couple test sessions at $258/car. Two, four hour sessions per day. I think it was limited to 25 cars per session.

Maryland, PA, NJ, most of Ohio, and Virginia all seem to be closed yet.

Big Memorial Day race at Reynolds GA. Nice track, plenty of room and staging lanes are downhill. Pre-registration

Re: What tracks are open?

I think I may have just gotten in on a Saturday test and tune here at Delmar. One of 10 spots.
Anyway I was curious to where people were at and what tracks were open
it would kind of be nice to know what all options are at this time so please keep them coming
That being said I believe MIR in southern Maryland is closed also but the md governor is giving an update today at five

Re: What tracks are open?

Keith the tracks here around me are open, Jacksonville had a bracket race this past weekend and as expected there was a huge turnout. I heard it was 220+ cars and a normal Saturday night race would normally be around 75-80 cars. Galot will open for regular test&tune on May 21st then has a PDRA race scheduled for the 29th and 30th. That's all that I am aware of at the moment.

I forgot to mention that Rockingham is supposed to have "Run for the Wally" race Memorial Day weekend. It's a Friday, Saturday and Sunday race paying 5k, 7500, 5k in Top ET and it is still on as far as I've heard.

Gainesville Raceway opens this weekend. They are limiting it to 50 cars and crew members. Have to buy tech cards on-line, first come basis, no gate ticket sales.

New England is still closed, looks like it’s going to be awhile before they open. Check out the update at nedragway.com. By reading the update I would think the lodrs race is questionable. NH has faired well during this, but nearby in Mass. it’s been ugly, but seems to be getting better, we can only hope. I wouldn’t travel to this part of the country if I didn’t live here.

Wow free gate fee at the rock for foot brake cars , am I reading that wright ?

Keith 944 05-16-2020 03:57 PM

Re: What tracks are open?

Yes they say no entry foot foot brake racers but there’s got to be some kind of catch like you have to pay for a time run etc.
I just heard Numidia is having a bracket race for memorial weekend. He said he will be 100% open can’t wait to see what that really means
if this is true I will go there instead
And foot break is paying 3K

Re: What tracks are open?

The TX governor had a news conference this afternoon and specifically mentioned "motorsports racing" as being opened at weeks end.
He also mentioned social distancing and wearing masks.
He also mentioned 5 counties in the state that would stay in lockdown for at least a couple of more weeks.
Those are 4 counties in the TX panhandle where there are several meat packing plants and El Paso county and I am not sure the reason for its delay.
I live in one of the panhandle counties and the total employee testing of one of the meat packing plants who employs large numbers of people was tested a little over a week ago.
Of the 3700 plus employees tested at the one plant 1500 plus tested positive with many testing positive which did not have any symptoms.
That is a little concerning for me at my age.
It looks like TX is back in business for racing soon.
Amarillo Dragway will just be a few weeks behind the remainder of the state.

I hope and pray that as tracks open across the country things go well. If events go well and more tracks open and events happen we can return to a somewhat normal life. I know the track owners will be happy as well as the many racers across this wonderful country. Good luck to all and stay safe.

Question about the electronic time slips..

Generally, text message or 'net?
In either case , it looks like more than a few will have to hang up those old flip phones.
Maybe on display in the garage or den , next to those 8 tracks and CB's ?

Maryland seems to still be lock downed, Cecil was to have a test wed night, no-go. then he had to cancel the strange streetcar shootout this weekend. Mir is still locked, not sure about Mason-Dixon. Delaware still limited to private rental. Numidia, PA says there a go, so here i come!

I know of an organization who was suppose to have a track day in Mass, got the ok and then last minute the govt pull the plug. I think you are going to see lots of this BS around every state.

New England Dragway is holding a limited test and tune May 30 & 31. No details on their website yet. I have my doubts they will have permission to hold a large event yet and the d1 race is only a few weeks away. We’ll just have to wait and see.
