Indy National Event July 18-19

I just seen on Lucas oil Raceway page, they are running their bracket program in conjunction with the National Event. Hope this doesn’t become the Norm. Looks like we will go and run in Pro.

If you run .0000000001 under the index you are a bracket racer. What is the big deal. If I were running NHRA there would only be Sportsman, Pro and Super Pro. No tear downs, no rules crap, no trying to figure out what is legal, just having fun.

Monte, if you travel an additional 175 miles to Columbus you can race a divisional and National event for one tow......

I forgot that’s the same weekend as Columbus. We will be there.

Will it be the first NHRA National event ever to have "buy backs". LOL

Sarge, I would like to Thank You for the many years you served to protect this great country. In hindsight, you should ask Billy Meyer and IHRA how a bracket program at National events worked out for them ??....Might be a good idea to keep things as they are....

I was wondering if the track already had a contract for that date for the bracket race and this was a way to also have the National Event then as well.

Can you picture how much down time there would be if there were NO cars other than the pro's? Who would want to pay to see that?

Running a national event is doomed for failure without Sportsman.
Other race tracks in the past have tried this with zero results ask Bill Meyer

I doubt they will be able to let spectators in at these two events. So they are using the bracket program to bring in some cash money. They might be surprised that bracket racers don't like to sit around for several days to run one event so they probably wont get a big turn out. It will be interesting to see what the results are

Plus Bracket Racers aren't going to spend 3-4 days sitting around to race for $1500 with $300 entry fee.

Indiana is on track to be 100% opened up by July 1st. So I would fully expect spectators at these events.

Some are not old enough to remember but NHRA tried Pro only already. In 1972 the last race of the year was TF, FC and PS at Ontaria, CA. Think they called it the Supernationals. No filler so it didn't go well. In 1973 they added Pro Comp and motorcycles and apparently that didn't go well because in 1974 it was back to all eliminators as it was in 1970-71.

They are allowing limited spectators; you must be an NHRA member or a 2020 Indy ticket holder to purchase tickets to these 2 events.
