Galot Question

I’m watching the live stream for the Division 2 points race and noticed
T/D & T/S cars running 200mph in 1,000 ft.

Why is it that S/SS cars are only racing 1/8 mile ??
Seems odd to me.

Re: Galot Question

We have established indexes for 1/8 and 1/4 only.

Yes Jim I understand that.
My point is: If a car can go 200mph in the Top Categories why can’t s/ss cars run
A 1/4 mile ??
If theirs enough stopping distance for the 200mph cars, there should be enough room
to stop s/ss cars.

Re: Galot Question

Forgot exactly how much short it is per NHRA regulations but they’ve talked about extending the track for some time in order to certify for 1/4 but end of the track is already close to a county road. TD cars are indeed crazy fast but easier to stop a light car, have no idea if they have issues stopping but the track is really smooth so guessing they don’t have to contend with bouncing on the brakes.

The county road needs a bridge. Let's start a Go Fund Me Page.

No IHRA cars at this race this is a division race.

It's not an issue with the road the issue is the adjoining neighbors properly and she won't sell. A GoFundme isn't necessary either I've heard the man who owns the track has offered her 10x the value of the property but she's not having it.

Ok now I understand, nhra needs a certain amount of stopping distance to run 1/4 mile
there.

Cooter is correct, Lady that owns the needed land want sell, well for a reasonable amount. My son in law's dad owns land Mr.Wells wants as well and he will sell. But it's not the primary track at end of shut down. And the road in question, would become the new pit entrance.

Re: Galot Question

I ran TS there last year, no issues stopping from 1000'. They only have a bit over 1700' of shutdown from the 1/4 mark. The extra 320 helps bigtime. The faster Stock/SS guys would be standing on the brakes and dumping the chute to stop from the 1/4, not to mention if you had a problem with the brakes, it would get hairy.

I do not know how long the shutdown is at Pomona however, it does not feel like it is 1700 ft to me. It is pretty short especially when you have a throttle stick. Trust me I know that from experience.

If there were 1000' indexes for stock and superstock we would run 1000' to which I think would be great. Hopefully they will continue having this event and set indexes for us. Even better would be if the lady that owns the property beyond the shutdown would sell it to Mr. Wells, then it would be a non-issue!
