“Live” from Topeka double divisional

500 more miles and we will be there! We left this morning from NRC in Middlebury, IN at 4:30 central time! So we have already been on the road for 3 and a half hours! Now I hope we get to enter when we get there! I tried to enter online last night when our plans changed and we decided to go but it said online was closed and you could enter at the track! So we are on our way! According to the schedule, they started stacking yesterday and begin parking at 1 today. So we will see you there!

We got to the track about 6:30 Monday and were #33 in line. Like Larry and Patsy sat down to enter when we got here and found online entry closed. I entered Houston outside the track the night before with no problem. Sure wish This would be consistently done. Mike McMahan 25 H/SA

The track's facebook page said that gate entry was available. After having a REQUIRED online entry and a deadline to enter, opening up gate entry is a little frustrating to be honest. I am told that online tech card/waivers will still be required even if paying at the gate.

Basically confirmed, the reason for opening up gate entry was the pre-entries were lower than they expected. Which is not surprising to me given the economic state of affairs and COVID situation.

Also of note, face coverings are required at the event per Kansas/NHRA. See y'all soon!

Austin, If they would in the original registration allow for refunds they would get more pre entry’s. I don’t remember seeing anywhere that pre registration was going to close. Maybe I just missed it. I entered Houston the night before the race and just thought I could do the same thing here.

I agree, it was hidden on the tracks facebook page about a deadline. I brought it to the track attention that if people were not on facebook (very possible) that the post on nhra racer made no mention of a deadline.

For what its worth, this pre-entry deal with a deadline will be the norm sooner rather than later from what I am told. It is easier for the tracks/NHRA to plan the schedule and have all tech cards in before the event begins. I do not see this going away.

Facebook post from Unk

To all of our racing family that will be attending the Topeka double header this weekend, please read. I realize that not everyone is on the same page regarding the virus and masks, but we DO all agree on the enjoyment of being able to race. Topeka is the Capital of Kansas, and I'm pretty certain there will be folks amongst us from numerous governmental agencies watching how we interact with each other.
Also, keep in mind...
HOW WE DO AT TOPEKA THIS WEEKEND COULD AND WILL HAVE VERY SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON NHRA NATIONAL EVENT NEXT MONTH!

Re: “Live” from Topeka double divisional

NHRA has enough of my money in entry fees, not their fault.
When tracks say no refunds on pre entry it makes me want to keep my money in my pocket. In our business if money needs to.be refunded, it's refunded. It does not become a default donation to some museum unless requested otherwise. So until this political stuff get straight I will enter at the gate.
Entry at the gate was easy it took all of five minutes, not the time and frustration it takes to do it on line, and we did not have to pay a handling fee.
In this age of technology what happens to our tech card information. Maybe someone can show us how to reuse previous information so we don't spend hours trying to get it accepted. For me give me extended tech do it once and it's good for the year. According to the fine print we are responsible for our entry complying with the rules

Austin is correct not all people use Facebook.

Also about Nhra National event credit.
If you don’t use it in 1 year Nhra keeps it what bs
So enter an event and withdraw...
And no refunds at divisionals is totally bs. Money grab

Re: “Live” from Topeka double divisional

The no refund policy makes local s/ss groups look so much more attractive.

Stop with the bitching about everything and making things up too bitch about. States right in the add about re-funds.

Do your resaerch instead of making things up

In the event that you need a refund, they will be handled onsite or by contacting Travis at travis.hilton@heartlandpark.com.

That is one TRACK, not all of them, and not NHRA directly. And what a bonus, they will do it "onsite", yeah, because the majority of withdrawals happen "onsite", lol.

Re: “Live” from Topeka double divisional

Well the place has really been filling up today! We haven’t been here in around 5 years and had forgotten how big the facility is. We are parked in the back lot and hooked up for electricity . $175.00 for the week. Our spot wasn’t working well so they have us and others running off a big generator. But we are cool. It got to about 90 today and supposed to be like this the rest of the week. We start Race 1 at 8 in the morning. Starts out with super street where there are 104 car pre-entered. I think division 5 has the most super streeters. Then 90 stockers. We are to get 2 runs tomorrow then run to completion on Friday!
More later!

Q1 is in the books! 89 stockers went down. Bob Unkefer is racing and left early so he did not get a time! A little disappointed in the announcing today. I like to sit on golf cart and watch so I am out of sun. There really wasn’t a good spot to watch from but I was right in front of a speaker so thought I could at least hear who was going down. The mic kept cutting out but I think they switched mics so the last couple were better. The radio station isn’t working so you have to depend on PA system to hear. Anyway,?hopefully it will get better.

Yes, a bad mic. We swapped it out. At least you didn't say the announcer sucks... since it was me LOL

Jeremy Romero is #3 on the Stock Q-list, with a '74 Pontiac.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Just saw the car in E-1, on DRTV. It's an I/SA '74 Formula Firebird.

Would appreciate it if somebody there would take a good pic & either post it or send it to me. I am not familiar with the name.

Thanks !

Is the car the one the Burtons call "Grimace" ?

Yes, that's the same car Brad drove in Denver last month.
Jeremy is Ted Romero's son and Bernie's grandson and he's an excellent racer. He's a past track champion at Bandimere in the Stock/Super Stock Combo.

Very kind of you to say. I do what I can and have some great folks that help me out.

I appreciate the dinner offer, but I will not be covering it. That will be D1TV which is produced by Rob Jackson.

Thursday I’m in my office working and also watching qualifying on my second monitor
and I was blown away of how many SC pairs were making runs. Here’s how it breaks down;
630 cars in attendance.
Comp. 26
SS. 55
ST 93
SST 93
SG 87
SC 128
TS 29
TD 47
Congratulations to all, especially Logan Wernet putting another Mopar in the winner’s circle!

PS; if we include the Alcohol cars it’s a total of 644 cars.

Re: “Live” from Topeka double divisional

Goheen’s fuel did not check after the round. They do’s him, then he took a sample from his jug to them and they looked at a more current chart and said that it is approved now. Old chart was from 2012. This is hearing from 3rd party. Also rumor last night was that NHRA asked Johnny Dikema to tear down and he refused. ???

After our first round loss, we are headed home to KY!!

Good luck to all!!
