LORDS Event at Indy

Is there a link to sign up for this event at this time?

No.

Mike, I would wait anyway. I saw on the news yesterday that the state said any large gathering of more than 250 people would have to submit a plan and have it approved.

Re: LORDS Event at Indy

Did they just put this into effect.?

jmcarter 07-21-2020 05:10 PM

Re: LORDS Event at Indy

That’s part of Stage 4.5 (Plan for gatherings of over 250) which is currently in effect until July 31st (started July 1). If criteria (positives, hospitalizations, ICU occupancy, etc.) are met then Indiana progresses to Stage 5. NHRA must have plans in place to meet the 4.5 guidelines or they couldn’t have had the past two events. Seriously doubt NHRA will release the registration info until they feel the event looks like a “go”. They sure as heck can’t be making much $ with the sparse grandstands I’ve seen on NHRATv.

Pretty certain that the last 2 weekends at the track in Indy had way more than 250 people! Just the pro teams brought over 250, likely more! That doesn't include the "filler" teams and not to mention the few fans that were allowed to go.

I think I heard one of the announcers say NHRA sold 500 spectator tickets to NHRA members for those events

Am I correct in that there is no Sportsman racing at the next "National Event" at Indy, but a LODRS prior to the national event?

The silence regarding this Aug. 6-9 event at Indy is deafening. Makes one wonder if it's even going to happen.

Word on the street is if it happens (that's a BIG if) that the sportsman would run on Thurs. & Fri. and the Pro's would run on Sat. & Sun being they postponed the Denver event.

Wonder if the National Event insurance surcharge will apply to the entry fee?

If so, will that impact attendance by the Sportsman Contingent?

NHRA1926 07-23-2020 10:24 PM

Re: LORDS Event at Indy

I'm waiting to see what the entry fee will be for the sportsman classes entering this "Divisional" race at Indy. Funny how the first two national events didn't have too many spectators, so not much $ in ticket sales, and pro's don't usually have to pay an entry fee. Now, this third national event is going to "Allow" sportsman racers to attend. Do you think that NHRA is looking at the $ aspect from the sportsman entry fees to make up the lack of revenue? I would say if the entry fee amount for the sportsman at this event is anything more than the normal divisional entry fee, it will prove that NHRA is using the sportsman racers entry fees to make up the lack of revenue. And they continually seem to put the sportsman racers on the back burner especially when it comes to the pros taking priority. How many times have we seen them cancel or postpone sportsman time trials or class eliminations but not change anything when it comes to the pro classes? It will be interesting to see.

If it remains a divisional, payout and sticker money, and they charge more to enter, I believe I will not be attending

With the pros basically filling much of the east side pits, I would like to know how are they going to fit everybody else on the west side pits....unless there is going to be a quota system in place?

They do it during the US Nationals.

Didn't work out so well last year parking wise when they finally added Top Sportsman & Top Dragster.

Checking out the schedule, I see all of the Pros, including Pro Mod and Mountain Motor Pro Stock, plus Pro and Super Pro bracket classes. A double divisional sounded a heck of a lot more fun than a single 4-day divisional.

Has anyone found a link to enter the LODRS race? I called the track and they said to check the Div 3 website.

I literally laughed out loud.

I just called the division 3 office. There is no one there at this time. So, how are we supposed to get any questions answered about the entry status of the Indy divisional event? It is now only 10 days away.

J Gower, where do you find that information? can't seem to have any luck on the divisional websights, or the nhraracer web sight about dates to sign up for divisional races.

I would like the posting to be on nhraracer.com, instead of the division 3 Facebook page, which you can access from the division 3 website. Would like for it to be more accessible the nhraracer.com

FYI, the Pro and Super Pro bracket classes are only the FINAL ROUND that was rained out at the last national event they had in Indy. Those classes only have 2 cars each...so they won't be taking up much space/time at this event.

I realize that wasn't your main point here, Andrew, but I wanted to clarify that piece of information in case anyone else was concerned about that. A 4-day single divisional is definitely much less appealing than a double divisional...
