Building New cars for S or SS for 08?
 

Interested if anyone is building new for 08. Specifically building High Hp class cars which could run in TOP/SS or TOP/STK? Anyone building a bigger motor for current car to move up?

I understand from a very reliable source that NHRA will have a 7.5# class in 08. Will this have any bearing on the T/STK weight break for 08? I would like to know before deciding on what size engine to run. It might be a consideration to run T/STK at 8#, instead of 8.25 to allow the new class to participate without adding over 300#. Just a thought.

Arnold, what combination are you running in AA/S? I saw you ran a 9.64 this year. have you ran any faster than that? This run makes you the quickest stocker in the world. do you have any comments for your fans on this board ? JJ..anyways great run 9.64! wow.that's 2 and a half tenths quicker than Keener and Ficacci ever went..

I will be speaking to Dave Ley about his input on the wt for 08. 8.25 has made it an easier reach for both the classes. If it were 8 could the 8.5 cars still reach up to 8 without removing too much wt?
Selfish wish for the 8 might be that then it would be a LUCAS class wt and could be more easily run at Points meets without class conflicts. Thanks.

Wt added problem is really tough when High Hp motors.

I am building a 66 nova 4-door ,327/ 270 hp , Should run D , E & F/SA .My son will run it more than me because i will still be working for IHRA again. I will try to run in a division that i will not be working in. Hope to have fun this year with it . It will also be painted with a MOSER ENGINEERING paint scheme to match my son's Q/R dragster. Hope to see and meet some of you guys that are on this board.Already know most of you .Oh ,4- door was a lot cheaper to find....see ya !! !!

Dick, the LT1, F-body can't get lite enough for 8lb weight break! However i am building a 96 Corvette LT1 which is a natural C, car but it should make the 8lb weight break! Well, i am not building the Car, Jimmy Parker is building it for me!

I have a Viper which will run SS/B,C,D, or E. Sid will drive. Then again I might jump into the Hemi wars. I'm still waiting for the money to change hands for the NHRA deal to see what really happens with Sportsman Racing.

At this point TOP/STK will remain at 8.25 for 08. This is for consistency with Div 1. Thanks. keep em coming on the new cars. I am hoping to get a prime time schedule for both for 08.

I just finished a AA/SA '69 Corvette for Craig Couris that he will be campaigning in Division II next year.

Gump, There have been several requests for DIV 2. That will be totally up to someone to volunteer to manage it or get the DIV Director to accept it as NHRA managed. Good Luck. It is fun and growing here and Div 1.

We are working on Top Stock for Division 2. However, it is progressing VERY slowly. It'd be nice if we could have some of the guys who want it show some support, so we have something to take to the track owners, and some potential sponsors we have lined up. We'd like to run it at the Division events, after the regular activities are finished. We had several cars at Reynolds that were participants at the Division 3 events Dick Butler has had. And there are plenty of Division 2 cars that could run Top Stock.

Alan, If you guys cannot get Div 2 we might have a points system that would make it worth hitting a few Div 3 meets instead. Get someone to get a stacker and tow with one rig. We would enjoy having your support here in Div 3....Dick

If you have Top Stock in Division 2, I am planning to participate.

Will I be able to run the car as a Top Stocker in eliminations? I believe that is allowed in the other two Divisions? Or can I run Top Stock only?

Please post up the complete NHRA Top Stock rules again.

Finally I should be ready to put the motor and trans in my Neon (SS/GS). I was held up for the last month or so waiting for pistons to be remachined. The way they were I'd have had 17 to 1 compression. I should be down the 13.5 to 1 (going to double check tomorrow). Once I get the motor in it's make up a plenum for the intake manifold. Get the suspension, and alignment done. Get it to a dyno and tune it. And get some paint on it.
It's all downhill from here. I'll finally get to use my beautiful 48' lq trailer with slide-out

Jim, Keith already has it figured out. He got Shelby to write a letter, so Keith is running a 427 SOHC rated at 345HP next year.



Now Keith will stop talking to me since I ratted him out.:D

Dick, we've got the stacker, I'm just running WAY behind right now, so we're only running the one car, for now. But we'll be up to Division 3 a few times next year. You coming to Orlando for the PRI Show? We'll be there.

Alan, Yes I am coming to PRI. I will be contacting GM, FORD, CHRYSLER about the new cars and working on our TOP/SS and TOP/STK program to get in more places.

Emmett, YES I got the pictures. Got interrupted and will see them tonight. THANK you. Get a couple of those cars in the trailer and send them to Div 3 for a couple of races. You can keep them here and commute you know. I have this BIG empty Garage since selling all my stuff.
Anxious to see the Red Roadster....
