Need a good laugh?
Go to DRC and red about NHRA's decision to run the NOPI Sport Compact series.Actually it really isn't funny,it kind of upset my stomach. They are using resources that could have been used to make NHRA sportsman racing better for all.Spin Wally spin.............................

I haven't figured out why NOPI needs NHRA on this one... Must be a good deal for both parties.

Re: Need a good laugh?
Ed, what a joke that is! NHRA is now partnered with NOPI. Pretty soon our events will have bikini contests and may include drifting. Your Gremlin and my Firebird might fit in various NOPI classes and unlike their junk we can usually make a decent run without blowing up......NHRA smells more money....they will make them pay membership fees, licensing and the whole enchilada......More coin for Glendora to suck up and NOT pay back. Winners at NOPI events get a free bikini dance...no money
|
Re: Need a good laugh?
Of course they would partner with them. NOPI is successful. Unlike the Xploided series, NOPI typically has more than 2 or 3 cars in the majority of their classes.
Its rediculous the money and effort NHRA has dumped into that X p load. Meanwhile we sportsman racers continue get "in hands da" for our loyalty and support. |
Re: Need a good laugh?
I don't know...To me this sounded like NHRA was dumping the Xplod series, and that they were finding a home for everyone that USED TO participate in the Xplod series.
"NOPI Motorsports and NHRA will develop classes to ensure that all cars that competed in the NHRA Xplod Drag Racing Series in 2007 will have a place to race in the NOPI Drag Racing Series sanctioned by NHRA in 2008." That sounds to me like, "Please go race in NOPI Mr. Sports Compact Racer, and we won't have to totally screw you like we did the Pro Stock Trucks." But, maybe I'm wrong on this one. I for one certainly won't miss the sport compacts, as IMHO that had one of the least entertaining shows in all of drag racing (barely any cars, and no such thing as a close race). I would LOVE to see the TV exposure that these guys got go to the sportsman racers that participate in national events (minus the alcohol guys because they already get more than their fair share of TV time). |
Re: Need a good laugh?
Im not one to join in on NHRA bandwagon normaly. Im disappointed in the way they have treated the sportsman racer....I Hate imports also & I never plan to own one......but I believe NHRA is looking to the future....Sport Compacts are here to stay & It may piss off the old school muscle car drivers but... its real easy to make an import kick your azz...

Re: Need a good laugh?
LOCK YOUR TOOLBOX, TRAILER AND SECURE YOUR WOMANS PERSONAL AREAS BEFORE YOU GO TO THE STAGING LANES!!!
|
Re: Need a good laugh?
They may be a joke, but unfortunately they get the same Wallys and probably only have a dozen or so competitors for each respective national title.
|
Re: Need a good laugh?
Jeff Lee is correct on that one. I know someone that has been robbed twice this year at SpeedWorld on Import night only.

Re: Need a good laugh?
Interesting sentence..........
This was taken from the press release. "The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series..." So, to me, it looks like they are saying that those who race in the Lucas Oil Series are not stars now, but may be in the future. I guess you have to race in the Pro catagories in order to be a star. Personally, my heros and stars ALL run in the Lucas and Summit Racing Series. Real racers with real cars on a real budget. I'm not laughing. Safe Trips All! |
Re: Need a good laugh?
totally- cooool i get ta hear real race engines!
|
Re: Need a good laugh?
Isaac,
It appears that NHRA is reverting back to the original name they gave the "Lucas Oil Summit Series Event Racers (LOSERS). LOL |
Re: Need a good laugh?
Roger,
Thanks almost as bad as the "Super Comp Class", SCC which also stands for Second Class Citizens. Still not laughing........... I know of some racers missing items from their trailers and motorhomes in Atlanta during a Nat'l event also. Lock up your stuff! |
Re: Need a good laugh?
It's a crying a s s shame when you got to lock your stuff up at the track. I've been racing a lot of years and never lost anything except a socket I loaned to a guy 3 times at one race and he forgot to bring it back after the 3rd time.
I was at Pomona Tuesday evening for a staff meeting and went down to the sportsman pits after, just looking to see who was there. I found a buddies trailer and motorhome so I stopped. The trailer was wide open with 3 cars in it and the motorhome door was open. I hollered and got no answer. About 10 minutes later he showed up. He was out cruising the pits and wasn't worried. That, my friends, is the way it should be. We are all brothers under the skin with a common goal, win races and have fun. |
Re: Need a good laugh?
Englishtown has had it's share of thieves........and occasionally the crowd there is way less than desirable. My friends entire rig was stolen a few miles from the track. For about 2seasons the thieves were stealing cars regularly in and around the track. One year 9 cars were stolen. It was a ring of car thieves from New York and they used teenagers to do the dirty work. The track started giving out matching numbered decals....you had to have one on your tow truck, racecar and trailer and security checked you out when you left. My friend had quite an ordeal but did get his car back a few weeks after it was stolen. Everything else was long gone. I drove in to pickup his car with my truck and trailer....what an adventure that was !
