No time slips at Indy points meet.

We were informed about this in an email we all received yesterday. The info must be accessed on the live timing link provided in email. This will be a challenging endeavor. If I had known this I may have skipped this event. It will be interesting to see if this will be the case for the pro classes.

In the past live timing has not been very reliable. Hope it works out. No reason to not give time slips. It can be done and keep distance.

Larry Hill reports in their "Live" thread that they are passing out time slips.

Not today, no time slips. You had to have your phone
With you to see if you won. Then go over the scale.
They could have had someone at the time slip shack
To give you a thumb up or down.

No time slip was a hassle for me. Just trying to log my
Run data. If you missed the live data before it rolled off
The bottom it was another 30 minutes before it showed up
Under detail run

I not a fan of this

Not a Fan of the No time slips, however if NHRA/LORP is going to do this they need to come up with an phone app like World Wide Technology Dragway uses (St Louis). I ran the NMCA race last week and their phone app worked flawless and was immediately available after the run.

That being said I would still prefer paper timeslips.

ATT...NHRA, please stop CONTRIBUTING to the madness....ONE employee, ONE mask, ONE set of latex gloves....and hand us OUR time slips. I believe we DESERVE that. Time slips were handed to racers on Thursday and Friday. .Is the time slip interaction more DANGEROUS than the group of stocker racers huddled around the Q sheets and ladder pairings on the trailer ? ..........#TIMESLIPSMATTER............

With a proper app I would have no problem pulling the info off my phone and entering it into my log book. I do 1/2 of that now anyway. I can see a trend better in my logbook when they're all next to each other. With a volunteer crew @ the track sometimes they have to scramble to have enough crew in place to run the show. Been there done that. If it helps keep us racing, I'M ALL FOR IT.

We raced at WWT in St louis yesterday and today, you have to put an App on your phone called WWT time slips, if you pull your run up right after you run, you can e mail it to yourself, or text it to yourself, if you wait 30 minutes you have to scroll through to find your car number, to forward it, you need to give them permission to access all your contacts, galleries and other things on your phone, I am not a fan of giving an unkown app permission to access all my information and files.

Some of us do not even have smart phones and I never carry my phone when racing.
A phone in your pocket is a real safety issue in my opinion. If you have some type of an accident during the race it can cause major injuries.
If you have not witnessed what a cell phone battery in a shorted situation can do to a persons skin you would be surprised.
I would think NHRA would take carrying a phone in the race car a safety issue.
Of course we do not even have tech now so I guess it is up to the racer.
I won't be carrying a phone in the race car even though my phone is a flip phone and it is not app capable.

In a store, they give my receipt! And it is not dangerous.

Most people that know me know my opinion about the virus, false info, masks, etc etc etc.
However, this is all about our sport being able to continue or NOT, the people watching over us to see if we do what they think is important to stop the spread of the virus. Then I'm ok with wearing a mask, remote timeslips and whatever... The alternative is not good.
Thanks,
