“Live” from Indy divisional

Super street has been called and stock is in standby! I think there are 82 stockers entered. Not nearly as many as there would have been if they had left it a double!! Anyway, weather is beautiful !! About 60!

More later!

Larry, what's the deal about not handing out time slips? Have you heard anything?

Larry Hill 08-06-2020 11:01 AM

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

They did hand out time slips. 83 stockers. Probably at least half red-lighted! Patrick Downing #1 if everyone in right class.

As you probably have noticed it started working during Stock.

It is also on NHRA.TV although that started earlier than they said they would they were still late and came up during Stock also.

Drew Skillman anyone have info on the DQ as he made a good first pass. Did not get to see second round.

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

I believe he bypassed the scales and he did not make a second run. He is in the teardown barn now.

Drew was running a new engine combo and lifted at the 1000 ft. and they did not plan on going that fast so he decided to bypass the scales and fuel check. NHRA told Drew after that he was disqualified from the event and he needs to tear down, he passed tear down but can not run this race.:(

Not trying to stir the pot, but I have one question, and there may be a good reason, but I am not aware of one. How does one get listed on qualifying sheet if he passes up scales? I thought you were put at bottom with DQ. He was listed@1.43 and some change under@#1, then he was gone.

In terms of the DQ, it is plainly stated in the rulebook. Under Race Procedures, Section 2, Page 11:

WEIGHING OF VEHICLE/FUEL CHECK
Under no circumstances may a competitor reject scaling his or her vehicle or fuel check. Any competitor who runs quicker than any of his or her previous runs during the event in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Pro Mod, Comp, Super Stock, or Stock, and fails to report to post-run inspection (scales or fuel check) will be disqualified from the even. The event will be charged against the competitor's points events with a zero (0) point counting toward the driver's claimed races.

In regards to the teardown, this is a similar deal to the Cody Lane situation last year. When the run did not technically count towards qualifying, yet the HP stuck. In that regard, NHRA at least has a similar ruling.

Both decisions (the DQ and the teardown/HP) are justified in my opinion.

Well it feels like we are racing now! Alan Reinhardt just played “ Come on, Irene”! I have missed that!!

So anyway! You could not have asked for a nicer day than yesterday! Today is supposed to be the same, maybe a couple of degrees warmer. It is 64 now and super street has just been called up with round 1 of stock next!

We found a good place to eat last night. Rick’s Boatyard. Only about 3 miles from track and good!!

And now for some racing!!

You are right! It is Eileen!!

Well our weekend is finished, Broke something in transmission! And of course we only have one for Dumbo! Hopefully we can get it fixed by Bowling Green!

Who are the two or three people in the background using filthy language

about 4:30 I picked up back ground noise that most people do not wish to hear. I think it was in the tower.

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

I caught some of that as well. Missed part of it but I also think it was coming from the tower. Between the attitude and language I figure someone will be looking for a new job. Tried to email AR but couldn't find his address before it was shut down.

It’s drag racing folks Stop with the PC. BS
So what if someone slips on there words in the background it wasn’t intentional I’m sure
Like none of us have ever used bad language.
We should enjoy the free entertainment

Warren Evans 08-09-2020 12:11 AM

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

The language situation was a couple of people talking within earshot of one of the trackside mics - not the tower. Pretty embarrassed that I was not monitoring the audio at that time and did not catch it sooner, as it was graphic and profane, and certainly not what I want the audience to hear. I apologize to those who were rightfully offended by it.

Was it okay to delay the final few rounds of sportsman racing until Sunday? Some guys need to go to work Monday morning.

Lyn Smith 08-09-2020 06:38 PM

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

Everyone knew coming in when the final rounds were going to be run. Actually was completed quicker than most Div. 3 points races.

Re: “Live” from Indy divisional

Without knowledge of the schedule I’m surprised the sportsman portion was not completed Saturday. What’s the difference? No spectators, no TV, no prestige other than a coveted divisional Wally.

Frank, as Lyn said....everyone saw the schedule beforehand. I am sure a 4 day points meet NOT held in Vegas deterred a few racers from attending....

No doubt at this point in the schedule I guess who really cares, racing is on. This is the craziest time of our lives. Go for it!

All the semis were held over to fill in between Pro rounds like the usual National Event.
