Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Just checking to see if there is any news From NHRA about the rest of the racing season schedules?

Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Nothing from NHRA, but, there were plenty of rumors in Indy, ranging
from 10-12 Nationals to season over after the US Nationals. However, it was nice to be racing in Indy. Dan Foley |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
I've heard a few grumblings that Atlanta Nat will get canned and replaced with another Indy the weekend before the US Nats, I don't think it will be a Sportsman Attended event because Bowling Green D3 event is that weekend. I've also heard the rumor after the US Nats the season would be done or also heard a Double National at Dallas and then season over. I honestly can't see Maple Grove, Charlotte or Gainesville happening with the restrictions (IN PA) and new spikes going on in each state.
I just know that if that's the case they need to make an announcement soon on what they're doing about the Lucas Oil National Champs. I mean how do you crown a National Champ when it's all over the place. I know they did the adjustments mid-year for how much you can claim but, I'm sure they didn't expect every race to be at Indy and technically the only Nationals that have been run for sportsman so far have been Pomona, Phoenix, Gainesville - pre virus and Jegs Sportsnats at Columbus and you'll have one in D1 next weekend in Epping and maybe the US Nats. I'm sure a few people would have adjusted their schedule to attend more or less if they knew what was going on. I mean like poor D6 has had one Divisional and no Nationals and D1 has had 2 so far and it might be Epping and VMP from here on out but, just doesn't seem right to crown a National Champ over this mess of a year. |

It’s called an adjustment to the schedule. Why penalize the racers that have the ability to race and earn points? It’s not there fault that the schedule is Screwed up . I’m sure the Pros will be awarded championships. It is what it is .Good luck to the racers racing for a championship |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Id say just run the rest of the year Indy

Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
National or Division Champs?
What about the Canadian racers? Have those racers had any races to count? I do not have any answers to any of the questions however, the Canadian racers are the ones really blocked out with the border closing. I just know I have wasted one whole year after starting the season so well and still going well when we get to race. I mainly do this for fun and let the points fall where they may fall. At my age I am not sure how many more years I have to race and this has been a waste of what I have left. Just My Take Rick Cates Canyon, TX |

He was in Colorado at Darrel Zimmerman's funeral last week so I am going to expect that email this week sometime. Travis Hilton told me he could not post it as it was NHRA's information and he was not authorized to release it. A number of people have asked the same questions about the payouts. In years past it seems like I remember the payouts being posted however, I am old and not sure my memory is correct. Time will tell. Rick Cates Canyon, TX |

I did get the 2019 Payout numbers from Rob Park today. I have asked him for permission to post it here. When I hear back I will post it or post why he did not approve that. He did indicate it was posted last year but had not been updated for 2020. There will be a post to follow up on this as soon as I get a response. Thanks Rick Cates Canyon TX |

Rob Park did give me authority to post it.
He sent me the 2019 and indicated it was the same as the 2020 and then he sent me one marked 2020. Below it that posting if I can get it copied and pasted into this message. I had to reduce its size to get it to post. I hope everyone can read it. Thanks Rick Cates Canyon, TX |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
So I took the time to acquire the Topeka payout sheet and post it. Then there was not one comment on it.
Did I just waste mine and Rob Parks time? It seemed to me from the questions on here and the phone calls I received it was of interest however, I must have been wrong. Just My Take Rick Cates Canyon, TX |

Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Well Ga just cancelled the Ga National Fair that is normally around the 2nd week of October. So don't expect any National events in Ga this year, just saying. School is back in for 2 weeks and already have 13 schools with cases just in our county. So just FYI, I would be expecting everything in GA to get cancelled.

Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Bill,
My understanding is that at least at Indy 3 anyone could buy tickets and on NHRA.TV it looked like there were more folks in the stands. Looking down the road given all of Florida's COVID issues is it realistic that the Gators will be run? Looking further down the road what is the situation in Las Vegas? Is that a possible venue for several races later in the year? While I genuinely hope that all the currently scheduled races can be run as scheduled I don't know if that is going to be possible. Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
NHRA needs 12 National events to get the Coca-Cola money. We're currently sitting on 5 events with the US Nationals still to go. So that'll make 6.
NHRA is going to try EVERYTHING they can to get to the 12 events. And by everything, I mean everything. They want that money. Maple Grove isn't likely to happen. Charlotte, Gainesville, Denver, St. Louis, Topeka and the two races in TX are all 50/50. Of course things are changing daily but this was as of this past Sunday. Bristol is 75%. NHRA was actually trying to get 2 events at Bristol but it just won't work. So it'll likely just be the 1 in October. There's talk that Gainesville will be pushed back to a later date and ran as the season finale since Vegas & Pomona are extremely unlikely to happen. But of the 8 races left that have a chance at happening, NHRA only needs to have 6 to hit the magic number of 12. |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Matt posted Vegas unlikely.......does anyone know if casinos are open? If so, you'd think Vegas could run
|
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Thanks Matt; that sounds like a really good assessment of the situation. Bristol having two would have been great; beautiful country there in that Fall. Given all that I feel getting to 12 is going to be a real challenge but trying to be optimistic. The Lucas Oil championships (if they happen) will have an asterisk for sure.

I wish Peter Clifford luck with getting it done.
I believe he will because the drag racing community wants it as bad as he does. |

[QUOTE=340Cuda;620821]Bill,
My understanding is that at least at Indy 3 anyone could buy tickets and on NHRA.TV it looked like there were more folks in the stands. Correct. Anybody could've purchased a ticket to Indy 3. I had friends purchasing them in the parking lot before heading to the gate. There's a really good chance the current schedule will get shuffled up again. But as of right now, other than the US Nationals, Bristol has the best shot of happening as scheduled. |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Unfortunately when they set the quotas Bristol was only 50 and it's been full for quite some time. Not much motivation for people to withdraw, unless they're bagging the year in which case they probably don't mind having the credit carried to next year.
Thanks for the 2001 payout; entry was probably $125 which made it a little more reasonable, not bracket racing payouts mind you; $5K payouts were the norm for $125 but it's the choice we've made as Class Racing addicts. Matt, I'm going to follow your future outings more closely, I don't particularly care for any of the DSR cars anyway. |

Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY can come by out pit at any national event and we'll welcome you. Unlike most other teams, we don't require our crew to sign something stating they can't interact/talk with the fans. Yes, it's true. The bigger teams make their crew guys sign something stating they will just work and not really talk with fans unless the car is on the ground. Screw that. We're there for the fans. We whack the freaking throttle TWICE for the fans. We must've had 20 kids SIT IN the car this past weekend at Indy 3. We plan to have a booster seat at the next national we attend so their parents can get a better picture b/c the kids sit so low. And nobody is having as much fun as we are. Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Lots of rumors floating around. Keep hearing season done after Indy because Sponsir obligations will be fulfilled.
Heard Nothing at Bruton tracks without spectators. Heard Zmax done for year and asked promoters to seek other venues. Really doubt GVille will happen with all the Covid there. Didn't Cali Gov cancel everything till 2021. All are Rumors or are they who knows all we can do for know us hope |
Re: Any news from NHRA About the rest of the season
Worldwide Technology Raceway in St. Louis is hosting an Indy car, NASCAR and ARCA event in 2 weeks and have been advertising spectator passes pretty heavily. They have also hosted numerous events with thousands in the stands this year. Wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to see that one happen if it fits into whatever plan the NHRA has. Who truly knows what the motivating factor is for them at the core.
I’ve run some of the rumors posted on this site by a pro in the nitro ranks and he said it’s the first he’s heard of most of them. I’d say there’s a lot of false info being spread around. I know I feel pretty fortunate to be in the center of the country. We’ve been racing our asses off. |

Straight from an extremely high NHRA person (who I won't name unless you PayPal me money) after we were wrapping up at Indy 3: "We are monitoring St. Louis closely.
