AHFS active for 2021 US Nationals

NHRA has announced that the Automatic Horsepower Factoring system will be used during the 2021 NHRA U.S. Nationals event. All runs made by Stock and Super Stock competitors at any time during the event will count towards class averages, and will be used to trigger index or horsepower adjustments

That will turn Class into the Super category's. Only exception will be instead of shooting for exactly 10.90000, 9,90000, and 8.90000's.... We will be shooting for 1.199999 under your index. Sounds like 1000 foot racing is back at Indy. At least it was cool while it lasted

Wow. Disappointed to hear this.

Well on the bright side it will get some really silly
Combos sorted out.

Pretty sad the last several years the “race cars” that have qualified at the top of the list....

As it should be. Not sure why they ever took it away. without HP adjustments and Tear down we are just glorified bracket racers. No more 2 second under qualifiers at Indy.

In 2008 I qualified #1 at Indy and took HP for it. and I'd do it again. If you want that spot, be prepared to pay the price for it.

Please tell me this is a rumor and may not happen .
I was planning Indy 2021, solely to run flat out .
Very Disappointing if true.

The horsepower rating for 1986 Chevrolet truck, entries with the 350 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 165 currently rated at 189, has been increased by nine horsepower, to 198 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator.

The horsepower rating for 13-14 Chevrolet COPO, entries with the 396 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 390 currently rated at 399, has been increased by twenty nine horsepower, to 428 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator.

The horsepower rating for 09-10 Dodge Drag Pak, entries with the 345 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 305 currently rated at 305, has been increased by thirty two horsepower, to 337 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator.

The horsepower rating for 09-10 Dodge Drag Pak, entries with the 360 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 275 currently rated at 275, has been increased by nine horsepower, to 284 horsepower; for Super Stock Eliminator.

The horsepower rating for 87-92 Chevrolet/Pontiac, entries with the 305 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 195 currently rated at 235, has been increased by ten horsepower, to 245 horsepower; for Super Stock GT FWD.

NHRA's 2014 Automatic Horsepower Factoring System outlines that any run of 1.20-seconds or more under the index will receive an immediate index decrease or horsepower increase. These changes are effective Sept. 2, 2014.

And every combo on the list had a very soft factor and deserved an increase.
