A quick scan shows finding the correct intake will be a challenge. Anybody have one?

Larry, we have used all 3 intakes for this combo. The 110 is expensive and hard to find (for a SBC part), and they all 3 perform the same from what I’ve seen. I have an 024 on one motor and a 110 on the other right now. There was a 116 or 024 on eBay a while back, if I remember right it may have been Steve Ficcaci that had it listed.

Andrew,

do you run the iron or aluminum heads? What class and what performance are you achieving.

I run the factory iron heads, the aluminum heads are so much bigger than the factory runner volumes that it would take a lot of work to get them to the allowable levels. I’m not familiar with anyone running them on a SBC in stock yet (but maybe somebody has that I don’t know of).

I run D/SA and have run as quick as 10.23 at 127, which was at Indy last year. If you’re interested in a second gen Camaro, I think there are a lot of good options. The lower compression 71-72 Z28 combo is good as well, and I think the 73 Z28 with the Quadrajet has a ton of potential, as it’s only rated at 294.

Andrew,

I have a 1970 Camaro Z28 spotted that is in good condition. It is all original. What does it take to convert a 70 model to 71 or 72 or 73?

I believe the only major difference is the grille, which is different between the 70-71 and the 72-73.

I'm an Old Guy, so help me out....

I looked up the e-Brock specs on these NHRA replacement heads.

I found that 3 of the part numbers had Intake Runner Volumes of 185cc..

I found that 1 of the part numbers had an Intake Runner Volume of 170cc.

I noticed that in the tech specs that the Intake Runner Volume of all of the Factory Cast Iron Heads have an Intake Runner Volume of 165cc..

The e-Brock heads I believe are SS only because they would have to be filled and ported out to size, which is legal in SS but not in Stock.

What did I miss??????

Thanx.

The 70 and 71 use the same grill. The 72 has larger openings and is silver colored rather than black. The 71 has high back seats while the 70 does not, but no longer a factor. I've run my car as both years, currently as 70 with 360 hp. I think the 71 flat top motor at 315 may be slightly better. I've always run a 4 speed at altitude tracks but am certainly not as fast as Andrew.

There has been some discussions with Dart as to making a pattern for 165 CC intake runners. Use the same part# for NHRA approval process. Then you could get to 161 CC applications as well.
There are guys running aftermart heads with no modifications to runner volumes...
Bigger intake runners don't always mean the you will be a faster.
