Re: Camping World announcement
So all those motor homes out at the track are paying off. Marcus Lemonis aka The Profit bought Camping World a few years back and continued it's NASCAR truck series under the name Gander Outdoors Truck Series. He's a good guy and this should be positive for the sport. Kinda sick of Mello Yello to tell you the truth.

Re: Camping World announcement
It appears the Sportsman style of racing helped a bunch in getting the Sponsorship. Hoping for the best!

If it matters to you
He is telling 62 million people to skip his store. Is that a good idea? |

What I was referring to is the service , or lack thereof , in their stores.. Their parts are priced higher than a lot of other, smaller outfits. They seem to be pre-occupied with writing service rather than being helpful with parts. If you're and old geezer who can't check his own oil, or tighten up a cabinet hinge, this is the place for you. But hey, just my experience...I don't drink Coke either. |
Re: Camping World announcement
Wonder what the 2021 schedule will be ?

Re: Camping World announcement
I do not shop at Camping World even though they are
down the street from me. High Prices/Incompetent Sales People! |
Re: Camping World announcement
Who cares what political stripes they wear(Camping world), as long as it helps NHRA survive. I think it's time NHRA stop putting all their eggs in the same basket when it comes to sponsorship. Also time for NHRA top boss tp takes a cut and pay and cut off all executives not working at NHRA(Compton and the others). I think it's time for NHRA to take a good look at it's operation and finally come to a realization that sportsman is what has kept the ball rolling for so long and that the sportsman should be taken better care of one precious customer.. Nhra should support Bracket racing at a higher level than they have been, after all if it wasn't for bracket racing, NHRA would have disappeared a long time ago.Welcome aboard Camping World and I will continue buying products from you.CR

“There’s no doubt that there is probably not many consumers in this country today that are in favor of what has been said in the last couple days and if they are, quite frankly, don’t shop at my business,” said Lemonis, who is CEO of Camping World you can listen to his exact conversation here. Make your own opinion, I have no problem with a company making political decisions, but do not be a hypocrit and not call out other politicians that are saying the same thing as trump https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/16/marc...-business.html |
Re: Camping World announcement
I'm sure everyone on this site is a NHRA Member that being said I'm glad NHRA was able to get a major sponsorship this quick. Put the politics aside and be happy for the sponsorship and also if you do go into a Camping World Store tell them Thank You for sponsoring NHRA because they could spend their money on a lot of other things. Re: Camping World announcement
My Grandfather was very successful in the Lumber and Timber business in Arkansas and East Texas. He retired and dissolved all his business in 1969. I was 19 at the time. I had shadowed Papaw from the time I could walk around the mills and wood yards and cruise timber. He had an old buddy that hung out with him and was his best friend. He had been very successful in retail and retired early. He always had very interesting sayings about business. He had one saying that I heard back in the late 50's that preceded the Convenience Stores of today..
He said: Put your product out where people can see it, feel it & steal it, You will sell it. He would have fallen in love with Buckee's. Just one of the many I learned and took into my own business was: Don't mix Politics or Religion with your business. Maybe times have changed or do they need to change back to what I learned from an old Jewish guy in the late 50's and 60's? Why alienate your customer base and potential customers? |

Re: Camping World announcement
Frankly, I have never been inside a Camping World store, nor have I ever drank more than 1 Mello Yello or Powerade beverage, as well as never smoked Winston Cigarettes (or any others). That said, I am grateful that all these companies invested in NHRA drag racing even if it was mostly a benefit to NHRA and the "Pro show". However, I have bought products that did support Sportsman drag racing , including Firestone & Centerline in the 80s, and both Jegs and Summit in more recent years. Even if the Camping World CEO comments, regardless of context or intent offends a person , that person would likely have no issues accepting Camping World money if they were win some.

Re: Camping World announcement
The camping World money will be for the pro show same as MY was. The benefits we get is that money also helps pay for the traveling road show that make up the national events that some of us can enter and race. Just be thankful that someone saw the value for the money and stepped up. Definitely not a bad thing.
