"Live" from Dallas 2020
Well we are here for the national open starting tomorrow, and then the national event starting on Friday! We arrived on Monday afternoon and got parked immediately (in the rocks and dirt). Weather is supposed to be wonderful all week. It was a little chilly this morning (48), but 80s this afternoon. All week is high 40s to 50s at night and 70-85 during the day with no rain. Not many here yet so plenty of parking space!!
More later. |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Larry the weather on Friday is supposed to be low 70's you should get some good air, Have a small front coming through Thursday not sure yet of rain chances if any. You and Patsy have fun.

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
It's supposed to hit 90F for a high on Wednesday, then cool off to the 70s for highs after the front comes through. No rain forecast for the rest of the week.

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Starting off with a nice morning today. Going to be 90 this afternoon. For those of us running the National open, we get 2 hits today starting at 1. Then 1 run tomorrow , then eliminations.
Info for coming in—you enter at Gate 20, in case the sign is blown over like it was when we got here! I think that is the normal for here. We have only been here twice. First time was the big Super Collider fiasco way back when, and then 2 years ago when it was so dusty, then it rained and turned into huge mud puddles and we said we wouldn’t come back and yet here we are—having a great time!! Things change and you just gotta go with the flow!! Anyway, y’all come on down and have fun!! Patsy |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
No time slips information is on the phones. At first I thought what a pain in the as, but it makes researching your opponent real easy.
Track was a little iffy for some first hit for the combo race. We made some adjustments for the second hit and 60’ came back to what they were in St Louis. It was pot luck dinner at Joe and Kate Harper’s last night. The menu was: perfectly seasoned grilled pork chops provided by Mike and Barbara McMahan and cooked by Joe, home grown tomatoes, big old flat green beans like your mom made, a just enough spice potato casserole that was just great and made you say WOW, plus the store bought potato salad and coleslaw. Desert was home made buttermilk pie with whipped cream. Life is good. I will let Patsy tell y’all about the adult beverages after she gets up. |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020

So, are there any Stock/SS Q-lists posted anywhere ?
Didn't see anything on DRC or live timing. Would just like to see what Stock & SS cars are entered. Haven't seen anybody else ask. So, I thought maybe everybody but me knows where to find this info. |

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
There were about 45 combo cars. I never saw a qualifying sheet. It was random pairing first round, then qualified by reaction time in that round. We got beat 3rd round by the winner—Dale Hulquist. Congrats to Dale!!
It has been windy all day with dropping temperatures. By morning it is supposed to be 48 degrees. We start out with super street at 9:30 in the morning . We found a great restaurant just down the road this afternoon . Bluebonnet Barbq. Really good!! |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
without qualifying sheets second round was real exciting. Ladder was formatted from reaction times. So we did not know we had a heads up run with Will Carrell second round, Will did know and he did removed weight in his pits. For us it was a scramble to get the car ready for a heads up run, thank goodness we removed the weight box at the shop. The race was anticlimactic Will spun the tires.
We lost to the winner Dale Hulquist next round. Dale was .017 and dead on with a .001, needless to say I could not get in that window. |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Tomorrow 2 Q's and 2 rounds, it's a busy day! Stay tuned.

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Well it is looking like a perfect day for racing! Right now it is 53 degrees and sunny. Super street starts out in a little over an hour so it will probably be just a little warmer by then. Pro rigs are moving in as I assume most sportsmen are already here. Some for the first time—Chris Stephenson and the Worner brothers! I don’t think they were impressed by , as they called it, The Dust Bowl. They have been running a water truck down the main aisle but it is still very dusty!!
More later!! Patsy |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Any details/results from the national open? Q sheet? It was a combo?

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Today a third world pay phone worked better than Live Timing for Stock Q 1. Why?
|
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
54 cars made stock 2nd pass. Now first round in a bit. They started fighting for the byes that round. I think Wann won at -1.14 something under!
|
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
They just cancelled first round until 8 in the morning! Cleaning up track now!

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Wow nice 2 pack Larry Hill.

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
We had some ”It’s just a bracket race” today
First round heads up, A/SA, C/SA, second round heads up I/SA, round 3 heads up A/SA again. Win, loose, or draw, heads up is fun if you win and educational if you loose. Next round for me is Mr 413, it will be as much fun as being sent to the principal’s office! But it will be fun. |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Even though "62's are close to my heart,
You can do it !! That Pink Car is not ready to go home yet |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Congrats on that 002 pack win Larry don’t squeeze it too close on that next one !

Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
Well we have had a long day! Started out at 8 this morning with a heads up in Round 1 which we won. Then had to run Austin Williams and Larry was .001 on the light and ran dead on with a 1. Then we had to run Steve Wann heads up in round 3 that kept getting postponed all day until 7:00 tonight. Then Larry beat him with a holeshot win. Then we got beat at 7 cars by Lowell Gerber. It was a great day, but long! Strangest run was when Tim Snively beat Rucker in round 3, but got on the brakes so hard he hit the wall and crashed his car. He was ok but they DQ'd him for excessive braking.
So anyway we are in out of the dust. More later. |
Re: "Live" from Dallas 2020
