NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

We went to renew our contract with Warren for 2021 and was told that NHRA is rolling the Points meets streaming in-house next year and Warren is out. To top it off, if you want the free coverage us sponsors paid for in previous years you can subscribe for a fee, payable to NHRA TV.

Live national coverage is a big time loser for NHRA and they expect to supplement instead of learning how to negotiate a deal.

Time for a change starting at the top.

Just another enhancement I’m surprised it went on for free that long

This is terrible news. I don’t always get to watch the full time live but will go back and rewatch later at night or the next morning. Warren did a great job with these events.

I think we all knew it was coming sooner or later, Warren did a great job especially for the sportsman racers and us old retired guys that don't get chance to go to many of the races anymore. I for one won't be buying NHRA TV I tried that twice and both times it was terrible unless you want to watch the PRO guys. Thanks to Warren for all the great shows you put on for us sportsman racers . Best of luck !

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

Remember, NHRA is all about the money. They answer to all the corporate conglomerates now. It is no longer about the racer, its about the dollars and keeping the T.V. people happy. Why else would they not show some sportsman racing when there are delays? No No, let's show some interviews instead of showing other race classes. Racing is what EVERYONE wants to see right? They are so out of touch with their members, but they sure don't seem to care about that any more. So sad.

This is horrible news. Warren did a great job and is a great person. I guess NHRA just couldn't stand being outdone.

Good luck to Warren and sorry they are doing this to you.

P.S. I met Warren when he was at Pacific Raceways, I believe in 2018. Great guy to talk with and very knowledgeable

Thanks for all the kind words. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to meet and work with all of you for the past six years. To be clear, I was offered the opportunity to be a part of the 2021 plan, but I fundamentally do not believe in the subscription model. It is, however, their operation and they can make decisions as they see fit. This is their direction, which should be noted, was their intent for 2020 as well, but we were able to agree on continuing as is for this season.

So, tune in to the FINAL dragracer.tv points meet broadcast this weekend from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Thanks as always for all of the support. It has meant the world to me.

No, thank you! Your coverage has been the best out there bar none! I’m really going to miss your product next year. Thanks for all you’ve done covering races for us.

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

I am not surprised as NHRA needs to find all the revenue that they can get.
What is disappointing is NHRA.TV.
I've been a subscriber since the beginning, and it is not equal to Warren's coverage when the Sportsman cars are racing. It continues to be a poor product. Every year I say I am done with it and I always renew.
Maybe next year I will come to my senses.

Why doesn’t every racer call nhra tomorrow and ask them why they are making decisions like this without a vote from the general membership?? Every dues paying member should either have a say in these decisions or a vote for the board of directors that do!!

D1TV is owned and run by NHRA Division 1 and of course will continue. D3TV became dragracer.tv last year, and as it stands now, will not be broadcasting Lucas Oil drag racing, but will do other independent races. No schedule yet; hope to start putting something together after my last race this weekend.

I hate to hear this...My family and friends will be very disappointed..... I had group text setup and let my family and friends know when stock was called to lanes.. Every race I went to there was 17-25 people in the group text.... tuning in to watch stock..my family and friends loved being able to watch...
DragracerTV gave coverage to NHRA sportsman classes like we should have and will be a hard act to follow.....
Thanks Warren....

What NHRA does not recognize is that Warren's broadcasts did more to keep NHRA drag racing alive during this covid mess than any thing that Fox or their broadcasts did.
Thanks Warren.

Warren glad to hear the you will do the last div 7 race from Vegas, will the the continuation of the sport’s national on Thursday be broadcasted as well? The stock championship is still up for grabs. Thank you so much for what you have done this season it got a lot of us through these tough times of no racing.

Thanks Warren.

Absolutely. Working in the trucking industry, time off has been limited for me this year. I looked forward to tuning in on Thursdays and Fridays in my office and having it going on the second screen just to listen in while working. My membership is worth less and less each year.

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

My prediction is they cannot provide the coverage Warren did near as economically as he did and will not have enough subscriptions to cover the cost. They will then pull the plug and lose the benefit of all the publicity Warren’s broadcast generated. I personally know of 12-16 year olds who had never been to a drag race before who became interested after seeing his broadcast and have now been to a national event that they would never have attended without seeing his coverage. Glad I am part of Division 1. Your coverage is a big help, especially when a racer is alone and needs to review the runs for the day that evening.

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

Sure going to miss Warren and Unk. The YouTube platform is so superior to NHRA.TV, moving to classes of interest is so much easier. After NHRA dumped Lewis Bloom I was concerned they might dump Alan, Brian and couple others who genuinely love racing but hopefully they don’t completely lose their minds and do that. Lastly, thanks to all of Warren’s sponsors that made this possible, while I may not be able to personally use some of their products and services I will certainly use them when possible and spread the word about them.

Just an FYI. Do u believe that D1 TV users won’t end up paying? Hopefully the contract is enforceable and specifically states no charge.

Very disappointed to see the YouTube option going away. This was geared towards Sportsman racing and I thought the coverage was better than NHRA.TV unless it was the final rounds with full cameras going.

I'd like to know what they're going to do to deliver a better service than is currently being provided, especially if they're going to ask for money beyond what we are already paying for NHRA.tv.

Warren - thanks for all you've done to showcase the sportsman racing.

Forgot one other option discussed. There’s talk of including coverage in the membership package . Get your pocketbooks ready. They need to pay for their poor $10 million dollar live tv coverage deal.

This is a huge disappointment.....

Warren did a great job and I watched many races and enjoyed them all

Announcers were always excellent....

I did have NHRA TV for 1 or 2 seasons but refused to renew it after endless issues and they did not seem to improve.

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

I have really enjoyed being able to watch the divisional stuff over the years. Rarely have time to sit and watch or able to watch live. But I would put it on in the shop and listen all day. Maybe stop and watch a class I was interested in. Or put it on after the fact. Never had NHRATV. Don't expect I will.

I'm the guy with the pin, the patch, the mug, the hat, the T-shirt, the rulebook...

Never thought I would say it, but screw NHRA. Greedy a-holes.

They going to share that money with the tracks?

Lenny5160 11-03-2020 04:15 PM

Re: NHRA Does It Again - Dragracer.tv

I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said, but I will anyway out of support for what Warren brought us.

I loved the ability to watch early and late-season races, or have something on in the garage while working on my stuff. I liked that my parents and friends could watch me racing from halfway across the country.

I can see why NHRA would want to get any capital to be gained from races they own, but the expense and loss of exposure will probably outweigh any gross revenue gained.

This is a big loss to the sportsman racers and their fans.

They used to include the announcer feed from National Events with membership - before NHRATV. I thought that was a great benefit and had it on in the shop for all the races.

Well, the service on NHRA.TV did improve, but not by much. I don't know if it's my desktop which is about 8 yrs old (w/latest FireFox as recommended) but I can count on one hand the number of full runs I see from start to finish every race. Stopping, stuttering, freezing. Really annoying. Why can Warren and MotorMania and others that I assume all use YouTube can be so problem-free for sometimes 12 hours straight!! They said that when Sony (THE Sony) came on board it would improve......still waiting. Let's see what the new year brings! And Thanks Warren for bringing us the race coverage.
