Re: street/strip engine question
Here is another option for an monitoring air /fuel ratio:
http://www.daytona-sensors.com/wego-...-displays.html easy to install and has many options |
Re: street/strip engine question
Ive used an Autometer wideband gauge and O2 sensor in my truck to get a tune out of it. Works great.

Re: street/strip engine question
With an idle with 8" vac. it must be fairly lumpy, so the wide band won't be very accurate at idle but will be useful above that,

Re: street/strip engine question
@ idle is the issue. way rich. have been all through the tuning to no avail.

Re: street/strip engine question
What have you tried?

Re: street/strip engine question
Does that carb have the holes in the butterflies?
On Dominators I've had success with restricting the idle feed holes. |

Re: street/strip engine question
Idle fuel bleeds are too large.
|
Re: street/strip engine question
Yes, idle feed restrictions could be a bit large. Did you plug the secondary P.V. and go up 5 or 6 numbers? How much base timing, and total?
|
Re: street/strip engine question
Do you have a power valve in the carb or is it blocked off ?
|
Re: street/strip engine question
950 holley HP. nice carb..... 3.5 pv, timing @ 18 inital/35 total. (pump gas)

Re: street/strip engine question
You said 8 inches of vacuum at idle. Was the car in drive or in park when checked ? I always adjust the carb, idle mixture vacuum etc. in drive. Being in park raises the rpm and vacuum readings. Just checking because if overlooked it will not be an optimized setting of the carb. Good luck.
