Very true , but its good to stop and walk around alittle to save your back & legs . Specially if your tow rig seat is not the most comfortable . Do some of the motor homes & toterhome have better seats than some pick up trucks .

Oh gosh yes indeed, Ken. The seats in some (actually most) motorhomes are super plush and quite comfortable.

ON ramp OFF Ramps. Most highway accidents happen within ON ramps or OFF ramps. I read this years ago and my non accurate count is probably 80pct of the time this is true. When I see a exit ramp, the hair goes up on the back of my neck. In a car not as bad as when you are towing with that car in the left lane right next to you.

And the comment about people not letting you in, I have just started to cut them out. And if you watch, most truckers are doing that now.

I don't know if things have changed but my dad used to drive truck and he refused to drive the east coast. because the rude don't move drivers. He said on the west coast he could be in bumper to bumper traffic turn the blinker on wait a moment and the lane would open up so you could go.

Just start drifting over to the next lane with the rig and you'll see how fast they let you in.

The wasted time for re-fueling gas/diesel?

Spend some time on u-tube watching trip videos of Teslas or any other ev.

These people live in a world of total delusion. I almost feel sorry for them.

Me too and I felt it was a good idea...on paper. One year we were leaving Bowling Green for Indy. The highway was stop and go for miles. Accident or something with no place to pull off and I was about to wet myself.

My wife was sitting beside me and I convinced her to do a Dukes of Hazzard switch over while I went back to the bathroom. It was an emergency. She is from Peru and I used what little Spanish/English to convince her it was no big deal. She may not even move or at the most it would be a few feet or so. She bought into it.

Switch was made and I boogied back to the bathroom. No problem so far, but then I felt the RV start to move forward. Braced myself just in case and for good reason. I could hear the engine start to roar....then a gearshift. Then another and another.:eek:

She had way more confidence than I thought she should have and my anxiety level was on the chip. I scooted back up front or levitated. Not sure which because it was all a blur when our collective lives were flashing in front of my eyes.

Oh lord give me the ability to muster up what Spanish I could to have her ease it back down gently with trailer intact and pull to the side of the road for a safe exchange back. There must be a higher power or one with a sense of humor because it all worked out.

Si pues. My Spanish has improved quite a bit over the last 6 years or so. I am now at the level to where I can argue with her and compliment myself.

Seem to be stuck there.

Our motorhome has a 100 gallon tank, don't think I'd last that long.

Our first trip to Bowling Green was one I'll never forget. I still chuckle. We arrived late, 10 or 11 ish. Johns dog, Renzie had to go to the bathroom real bad... She was paceing around in our little motorhome, all 22 feet of it, and Renzie's 80 lbs. Doberman Pincher's body was hard to manage. We came to a stop right across from the main bath houses. If you have never been to Bowling Green, their bathroom/shower rooms are top notch. Amy opened the side door and Renzie darted out...like a rocket. Amy freaked as the dog disappeared into the darkness of the pit area. Amazingingly, the big black Dobe came RUNNING back ( that didn't usually happen). It took all of one seconded to realize why....She had been sprayed right in the face by a skunk. She didn't like it any more than we did, and panic quickly hit the Wanger camp. What the heck do we do now! Somebody said, "There's a bathhouse right here ! Lets take her in there." So we drag poor old Renze in the bathhouse for a cleanup. I wasn't in on the action, but I'm told it was quite the scene in there, and LOUD. What they didn't realize, someone was down in one of the stalls taking a nice late night shower. None other than our RFC Preacher. He couldn't see what was going on, only hear it. Afterwards he said when he heard all that racket, and a women's voice, along with that smell, " I'd never been around a women that smelled like that ." LOL LOL

We may all hate stopping for fuel even more this year than last. How long do you think it will be before fuel is at least a dollar more a gallon? My State is proposing a thirty cent increase in State tax a gallon. BP

Gas taxes will go steadily higher as the infrastructure continues to age. It will be interesting to watch how California gas prices will go up with their 2035 limit on traditional new car sales while pushing to EV and hybrids. With less gas tax revenue and aged electrical grids pushed to their limits taxes will have to go up unless the federal government chips in which of course spreads to us all. We may still be in the golden age of racing so enjoy it while you can.

With the TARDLINGS in charge, gasoline will be approaching 4 bucks a gallon sooner than later....

California, Oregon and Washington will eventually replace the fuel tax with a Vehicle Miles Travelled tax. This will make electric vehicles and highly fuel efficient vehicles pay their fair share. They have studied it for years. It's just a matter of time before the legislation is approved.

Understood, but don’t think VMT is inevitable at all. Even with the appointment of Buttigieg as Sec. of Transportation and his endorsement of VMT it’s got some hurdles. And does anyone believe gas taxes will go down even with VMT? It will be just another government program/bureaucracy.

To clarify, STATE fuel taxes will be converted to VMT tax. In Calfifornia local sales taxes and tolls fund a major portion of project costs, state fuel taxes a bit less and federal taxes a relatively small portion of overall project funding. Very different than the mid west or south. No I don't think fuel taxes will go down, at best the will stay the same.
