So all of you Mopar guys!
I know that your cars are all "collectibles" and I know that you can get whatever you want by making a phone call and I know that your collective "poop" doesn't stink BUT there has to be one (or more) of you out there willing to take up this challenge and do some "slumming". Will one of you please go and find a POS 2000-2005 Neon and do a "drag-it-home and throw-it-together build like my Cavalier and Yac's Escort? This combo needs to be done and done on-the-cheap just to prove that you guys still know how to think and how to get your hands dirty!

Stick or auto? SRT4?

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Billy,
If you want to challenge the Mopar guys to "do some 'slumming' " and build a "POS 2000-2005 Neon" like your Cavalier, is your business. Only leave out the crazy, bizarre, and unfounded claims. I take it you have issues with Mopars. That's ok. In your post though, your emotions took over and you resorted to personal attacks. As a consequence, your credibility takes a hit and you sound like a jerk. Don't sound like a jerk, Billy. |

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
I'm not offended the least bit, and all seven of my vehicles are Chrysler products...
Any specific reason for an '00-05, or is it because the earlier ones have disappeared into oblivion? EDIT: There's an SRT4 on Facebook Marketplace listed 2 hours ago in Harrington Delaware. Runs, drives, and tagged for $800...187k miles. Needs shifter bushings. Toooo easy... |

Man, we are out here getting ready for the Lemons race in New Orleans with the MonacEAUX. I thought the Kajun Peaux Peaux was a cool name. This "Collective Poop" takes it to the house! Outhouse I mean. Buford T. Justeaux

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Steve, the only reason that I zeroed in on the 2000-2005 cars is they're in the guide, there's still some around and a decent one can be bought for not-a-lot of money. I would like to see a base car done for the simple fact---------- they're simple. Turbos can be fussy. Now understand, I know next to nothing about these things but I do know that they race them on dirt ovals and SCCA stuff so they should be able to be done cheap.
All I'm looking for is for someone to take the time to do the same thing that I did with the Cavalier and what Yac is doing with the Escort. Oh AND do a "Class Build" thread on it. No major ordeal, no #1 Qualifier, just a simple "anyone could do this for a "Dime" deal. Next, I've got to try and get one of those FFFord neanderthals to rattle the Tech Depts. cage and get a FFFord FFFocus and a FFFord FFFiesta or two in the guide. Old Escorts are getting to be extinct. |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Billy, Did you look at the cam deal? Looks like a license to steal, to me.
Of course, I don't know what the internal limitations are, nor do I care to find out. I usually don't deal with foreign cars (Sorry, Don ;-) ) |

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
You can find gaskets on ebay head bolt cost more they are the stretchy kind but have seen them reused. What about Brent and his More power. Neons run good on dirt. Tom

Billy,
You are by far the most clever and entertaining member of this forum and you also know a little bit about racing a stocker. Happy freak'n New Year! |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Unfortunately in this area any Neon that the body is worth anything on is gold. Most of them rusted into dust or got wrecked.

Trying to make anything decent out of one of those ghetto squad cars would certainly qualify as "slumming it".

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Hey Billy. I still got the 1985 2.2 LeBaron Turbo sittin in the shop. 60,000 miles No rust, interior intact and extra engine. Did I say no rust, well I'm sure the tank ain't pretty inside. Ran 14.40's at Maple Grove in 1987. What class is that in pal ???? Just wunderin. Happy New Year guys John

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
First of all !! look at my previous posts as mentioned and you'll only see that Bubski speaks the truth !! If my mother was still around she wouldn't be too happy with all the enhancements like breaking out the 85b to mill the intake flanges off your heads and the lack of carbs and heads for the ffford small blocks allowing the most unreasonable aftermarket replacements !! probably wouldn't be too happy with the super gas style chassis either just to name a few !! As for these ghetto cruising puss cases theres no need for this nonsense !!! you can't polish a turd n thats the way it is !!If your really out to show what you got you at least need something to compare your skills too rather than how good your scrap yard connection is

I'm looking more for someone to do a $.10 POS with OBD2. No turbos (too fussy). Something that the average "kid" (or old poop that still thinks like a "kid") could drag home and get under the index without expending too much money, time and effort. I'm starting to think that Mopar guys (generally) just take themselves and what we do too seriously. Not one of them has stepped up to accept my challenge and shut me up. Just FYI, the LeBaron is an A/B/C/FS car today. |

Did you know that "turd polishing" is an ancient Chinese art form? Look it up! There's a whole lot more to this "game" we're playing than picking up your phone with your credit card in your hand and buying the latest stuff so that you can pay a "slug" like me to put it together. Puss case. Ya know, I'm starting to wonder if you're a FFFord guy. Naahh, you can string two sentences together, must be a Mopar guy... |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
I did my $600 car and it took over a year to run the 1/8 index, it was silver then. It sounds like it would be fun but I’m still working on my last project.
Happy New Year to all! |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Billy,
I've been giving your "idea" some thought and I find it preposterous that you would suggest a true Mopar man who has or is currently campaigning a true piece of mechanical art such as a Race Hemi, Street Hemi, Max Wedge, Six Pack or even a 273 Wagon to build a 4 cylinder Neon! I can taste the vomit in my mouth as I ponder the thought of such a revolting thing. A Yac attack if you will, sorry Mark, no pun intended. Yes, we are entitled elitists, as someone once stated (probably Jeff Tueton or Jim Hale); "On the eighth day, God created the Hemi". Kenny, Please delete this thread at your earliest convenience and make America great again. |

With sincere apologies to all of our Asian members, I've had enough Chinese **** for one year thank you.

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Ya got me with THAT one Frank! I have to agree 100%!

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
OK, first of all I have a Mopar, a small block 273 with a beer can size 2bbl, in a station wagon. I'm sorry Billy that I cannot take your challenge. The thought of going slower than I already go, is a fear of mine. I have perfected the concept of watching cars come up on me at an incredible rate of speed and then go blasting by me at the finish line. Sometime the win light comes on in my lane, sometimes not. As I get older my senses have slowed up somewhat, for me to go slower would affect my perception of time itself. Other than that I really don't like the Neon body style.
On a other note, it is a Japanese art, not Chinese. What is great about Stock, is the variety of vehicles. Whether it is a dime rocket or a factory stock car. The problem people have with slugs, is getting beat by a slug. Happy New Year to ya'll Ron Ortiz U/SA I got beat by a girl driving a Kia Soul. |

I think the guy who wants the thread closed should leave the thread and remove his comments. Just because you don’t like reading it, doesn’t mean other people feel the same way. Are you a Democrat or something?
Leave the thread alone. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. [QUOTE= Kenny, If deleting this thread will indeed Make America Great Again, please, by all means, delete it![/QUOTE] |
