Accusump/accumulator questions!
The Dart block has an oil port above the oil filter but it's only like 3/8", is anyone using this to plumb their accumulator? I think a -10 on a sandwich adapter might be a better option but what adapter is everyone using if not the block port? The block port can be seen in this photo.

Todd;
Moroso sells an oil filter adapter that solves this nicely. The port you are talking about is a factory machining drill access. |
Re: Accusump/accumulator questions!
Look up canton products they make a nice one

I was guessing something like this...

Re: Accusump/accumulator questions!
My BBC dart block has a oil galley access at the top of the block in the rear to plumb an accumulator

Todd;
Depending on which filter you use, I was thinking of the Moroso P/N 23675 or 23676 adapter. If he is still working, I'd give Howard Marcelus a call at Moroso. Brett McFarland may have an answer also since he is familiar with the Dart BBC. |
Re: Accusump/accumulator questions!
I used the same one that Brett mentions. For me, there was no chance of getting fittings to fit on an oil filter adapter with headers and clutch linkage in the way. This was on a Dart Little M SBC.

They changed the design a little but that is what I have been using for years with mine. |

Re: Accusump/accumulator questions!
I use the Canton Racing Sandwich adapter $92 on Summit, cheaper on eBay...

Re: Accusump/accumulator questions!
Just curious as to why you would not plumb right from the threaded port above the filter as shown in the picture. I have been running an accumulator for many years and use a swivel fitting from that spot to the accumulator. Why would you need adapters etc?

If you have enough iron at that location to safely drill and tap the threads needed to install a large enough fitting so that the oil passage is the same size through and on both sides of the fitting and your lines have adequate clearance then no problem. An oil filter adapter is just one way an accusump can be easily installed on the filtered oil side with out creating a bottle neck to smooth oil flow or machining the block. Chuck |
