Re: Seat Belt Recertification

Not sure if RCI got back into doing recertification after a major fire at their warehouse years ago put them way behind in getting location backup to operating fully again .. may need to call

Re: Seat Belt Recertification

If you can't get yours done, RCI platinum belts come with a re-cert coupon so you can get 4 years out of them for $20 shipping cost.

RCI was a pleasure to have recertify. Belts came back in half the time. I think 2 weeks including shipping both ways. Great company

I just sent 2 pair of Pro 1 Racing belts back for recertification and, they got back before i put the tools up that i used to take them out. Im not sure if they recert other manufacturers belts but as long as they have great products at a fair price and fantastic service and OH YEAH THEY PAY CONTINGENCY
What is there not to like about this deal ?

Is there a forum or other place to find 4 wheelers to sell them to?

I just called RCI, and the nice lady on the phone said now it takes 2-3 weeks, more time as the year goes on, so don't wait too long. John Kissel

I just put a new set of belts in my car yesterday. I counted 6 sets of belts on the shelf in the shop that were out dated. Seems like a waste. The cost to ship and recert is as much as a brand new set from what I have seen. And less hassle.

Sell your outdated belts on EBay. There is a market for them there.

Re: Seat Belt Recertification

Expired belts can be sold easily to most entry level circle track racers as they don't have to abide by the 2-yr. certification. I've done it on multiple occasions.

I usually sell the Lever/Latch type belts at Swap meets ($40.00) However we have 3 sets of Cam-locks from different manufacturers that have expired...

Again, Thanks for all the replies :)

Re: Seat Belt Recertification

find someone that races at your local dirt track. Put the word out that you have old belts to sell . You won't have any trouble getting rid of them after that.

Re: Seat Belt Recertification

New belts are $65 dollars, doesn’t seem to make sense to try to recertify for the same price if not more, maybe for a manufacturer that pays contingency but otherwise I don’t see the cost advantage

Yeah, I always found it rather odd that the belts in my car that never hit the wall or another car are not good enough for more than 2 years, but perfectly fine to sell to racers that do that on a regular basis!

That's why it's nice to know there's a certification process, Curtis. All we know about belts at any price is that they passed the minimum spec.

So they must attach fake SFI tags on them, that must be why they are so cheap.....maybe NHRA should start putting how much you paid for belts on the tech cards, then maybe start a seat belt tear down process?

Just sent a set of belts back to Pro1 and they said ships back recertified 3-4 days from their receiving them.

They use the same belt material on the latch and link belts as they do on the cam lock belts. The hardware is nicer on the cam lock belts. I just took set of Racer Direct belts out of the car last weekend. They were expired. Put a new set of RJS belts in. The belts and hardware were exactly the same. They were both cam lock style. I am sure all of the belt companies are getting their materials from the same supplier. And possibly being made by the same manufacturer.

Guys, in my shop I couldn't pay a person to assemble and inspect them and still sell them that cheap. Something has to be cut somewhere to do it. Just my opinion though. I use Stroud belts.

Very valid point Curtis. That is why the SFI foundation is an integral element of racers safety......

I switched over to them for the belts. Have them now in the Gremlin, Dragpak, Dakota, and Nova. I color matched the logo to the cars, its a nice extra option. There are two more cars in the fleet that will need some belts hopefully soon.

I also tried their racing jacket and pants, and shoes everything is very well done.......shoes fit my wide Texas born foot, so I ordered another 2 pairs for inventory.

Eric
