"Live" from the Gatornationals 2021

Thought I would start a new thread for the Nationals! We got moved off the pavement yesterday after we got beat 2nd round. Thanks Bobby, Tim and Mark for letting us get in the spot after Allan left. This should be a good dry spot. The ground here is still awfully mushy. They moved lots of rigs in today and got a few stuck still. But the weather the rest of the week is looking great. It was still cool here today but beautiful and sunny. It keeps warming up all week to in the 80s by the time we run on Thursday.

Today was drop off laundry day, go to grocery and a little maintenence. Tomorrow is clean up motorhome and car day.

We start racing on Thursday!!

Mr. Larry/Mrs Patsy,

Have you all been to Harry's or Amelia's? If not, it's recommended.

Re: "Live" from the Gatornationals 2021

We were part of a small group that went to Harry’s for Paula’s birthday celebration. It was a great time for all last night. The staff at Harry’s did a great job. We will have to try Amelia’s. Thanks for the recommendation.

Where did you dine tonight? Inquiring minds need to know.

if you like Tex-Mex then Chuy's in the Butler plaza on Archer is THE BEST!!! You have to try the creamy Jalapeno with the fresh made (on site) chips, killer! I am coming out on Friday to meet up with you guys, see you then.

Weather: 50*, 91%, 30.70. It could be fast.

We ate at Las Marquaritas last night. Food was good but marqueritas were watered down!

Well all 63 stockers went down this morning! I think we were the only ones that spun! Hopefully next run will be better! DRC should have sheets up soon! I think Rachel Thibert is #1 at 1.05 under.

So after two rounds of Stock qualifing things aren't so bad here - great weather with blue skies and sunshine - couldn't ask for more ......and yet we're going to get it -another shot at the track this after .Yippee .......

On another note a close friend did the NHRA golfing thing yesterday and when he returned everything wasn't right - I asked what's up and he replied that he lost his driver - I asked how he got back - then he replied no,no my golf driver - well there really wasn't a good answer but how does one lose his best driver without a clue?????

More later....

AH/SM needs an .10 Index increase from 8.95 to 9.05. There are three top tier cars at the bottom of the Q sheet.

I've been told that some people attach GPS to their clubs, just in case they inadvertently go farther than the ball and get lost ??? It seems to help me,( I mean ) my friend ...

Pancake with Larry Morgan power either outran the 2 top Barton cars or? Comp isn't for the faint of heart although NHRA has softened it significantly with personal index and now factory stockers and Super Stock Hemi cars in the mix. Appeared the 1 time a comp AH car had a chance of winning a round at the baby gators, J Daniels either lifted or broke. Silliness but the comp racers must love it. Comparable to racing a SS car in S/G.

Just doing some math if it didn’t go mineshaft. Track was good last two times but the car wondered around a bit at the top of the wheelstand.

Observations;

Congratulations to the Stephensons for the pole position for both Stock and Super Stock.

Jim Marshall's Nova is a very impressive race car.

How many pairs are they going to send before they realize they have an issue with the right lane timing system. Looks like a lazy photocell to me. Should be a handful of reruns if nhra does the right thing.

Looks like they have run nearly the entire round without doing anything about it. Will be a lot of reruns or a lot of unhappy racers.

I think its the sun, but even I am in Texas and sent Reinhart a text after I saw a few pairs. What a mess.

Surely something wrong with the right lane. Matt Rover had a 1.17 sixty foot time. No way!

And with a .324 RT it's not the Matt Rover I know.

Way too many Alcohol Crew personal walking around second round of stock checking traction with their tools. Get off the track. How would they like a bunch of people walking around their cars while they are trying to concentrate.

At the risk of being ignorant, can someone explain a lazy photo cell and how it effects R.T.' and e.ts.
Thanks and be safe all.

It's exactly what it sounds like. Same thing happened to a bunch of us at Sonoma LODRS a couple years ago. The staging beams are late to realize that the car has left them. R/T shows late, but the 60' (and every subsequent interval) is waaaaaaay fast.

I.E. Matt Rover's first E1 hit this morning. Late light and a 1.17 60' in B/SA.

I worked on those same cells at work. Banner Eyes. We used them everywhere throughout the plant on conveyors and such. The eyes have a sensitivity, and darkness adjustment. There are different kinds. Some have a transmitter on one side and a receiver on the other. Others us a transmitter and a reflector to "make the beam".
As you get the beam lined up a little red light will light up on top of the Banner Eye and make you aware its "made". The light on top my be dim, as it's barely made, or it might POP on and be quite bright. You can get them adjusted to where they SNAP on ..If you leave it dim, and not perfectly lined up, it will effect how quickly it triggers whatever your trying to do with it. If we left them in that condition, we could rest assured that within a couple days we would be sending someone else back to work on them because as dust, grime, soot got over the eyes lens a little, we would start getting missed counts, or missed whatever's ...
Hope this helps

Re: "Live" from the Gatornationals 2021

That morning sun was causing some kinda reflection on the lights in the right lane. It was also pretty tough for the drivers in the the left lane. Some couldn't find the tree in the left lane but they only re-ran a few that were way out of line in the right lane. I guess that was a toss of the coin flip. Tough way to start. Larry you didn't get a re-run. Do you think that 1.280 sixty foot time was correct?

Paul

Seasoned veterans KNOW that the left lane can be a challenge in the early AM at Gainesville ...A flip of the coin is SO important at this track ....

Seasoned veteran sounds much better than old veteran. Phoenix is or should I say was that way.

60’ vary a little depending where the car comes down. 330’ looks close I think I just got beat on my breakout run.

^^^ this. I had trouble with settings these at Speedworld in Az. It would take awhile to get a bright red light and stay steady. We would rebuild them and some still would not come in right.
