Need report on REDMAN and TRAVIS

Re: Need report on REDMAN and TRAVIS

Thanks for asking, Stan. I'm still hanging in there.

One does not realize how much you actually do in life until you are suddenly made immobile. With this kind of break I have not been allowed to put any weight on the leg. That means I do not have a "walking cast". Crutches have been my means of getting around. I have found that I can predict the weather and I set off alarms due to the metal the surgeon put in my leg.

I go back to the orthopedic surgeon this Friday. He will x-ray the leg to see how the break is healing. If okay the cast comes off. If not, I'm not sure what will happen. At any rate I'm sure I will not be able to simply walk out of the office. There is talk of therapy and learning to walk again. May have to use a cane for awhile.

This has been a long ordeal that I do not wish on anyone. All I can say is be careful on those rear trailer doors. They are truly slippery slopes.

Hope to see everyone in the Spring.
Travis

Glad to hear you are doing okay Travis. People do not realize how long some healing fractures keep you down or at least slowed down....See you soon.

Keep up the recovery efforts Travis...I'm sure the crutches and all the bionic parts and pieces now part of your body are no piece of cake either!

It will be a great day when you are back on both feet, not to mention how much you are missed at the races..

Didn't someone write a letter stating that early canes came in carbon fiber???????

Unk

It was either Walter P. Ford or Zora Arkus Shelby that wrote the letter.

I've got a couple of used canes-my wife broke her foot and my grandson ran over his with the Corvette. Both were pretty recent, so the date stamp should be good-not sure if they're made by an accepted manufacturer.

Wow Tom! I must not have made the headlines in your area!

On Sept 27 at the Northern Sportsnationals I walked out the back of the Div 3 tech trailer and slipped on the door/ramp. Danny Gracia took me to the hospital where it was determined I had broken my right leg just above the ankle. I was operated on the next day. A plate and 8 screws were put in making me the bionic techman. I forgot to ask the surgeon if the metal was mild steel or chromoly.

Travis! Does it say in the rule book that this kind of material is class legal for a person of your stature, class? Get well soon . I'm coming back John Lang!

I keep having this reoccurring vision from the operating room. Just as the anesthesia was being administered, I seem to remember the surgeon's saying "we can make him better, stronger, and faster..."

But then I was also on some good pain medicine at the time.

Okay, the permanent cast is finally off. I cannot begin to tell everyone how great that feels.

Now its the removable walking cast for six weeks. This boot looks like something you would use to walk around on the moon. No cane but ten days of phasing out the crutches.

And finally I am allowed to drive again! I guess that means now I can drive myself to therapy.

Travis, I would hope that the surgeon is not using heat treated material, LOL
