Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
Sad to hear Dan passed. I never met him but spoke with him many times on the phone. Always a pleasure and a learning experience.
Bought a crank scaper from him some years back. He said there was an additional benefit with using it...he guaranteed if the motor blew up all the internal pieces would stay in the pan. I do not know if that's true as of yet! God be with you and yours. |

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
During the races at Gainesville, Dan's shop was always open - to any brand of racer - You had to "know" Dan, but he was really a great guy. God Speed my friend.

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
If NHRA had put Dan in charge of cylinder head inspection things would be way different today. A good man. RIP Dan.

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
Did he live in the Indy area for a short time? I remember seeing his car at some local tracks in the early 1990's I think.

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
Dan was great guy and he always went out of his way to help. I recently purchased one of his windage screen kits and he spent a good deal of time with me on the phone explaining how to set it up. Years ago he helped me with some other issues I had with my car - probably talked for 2 hours. I never met him in person yet he treated me like a close friend. I remember on both occasions he would just start talking about other things like I was his next door neighbor - on the last occasion he was complaining about his ex-wife and some things she has done to him.
He will be missed. |

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
This is one part of getting older I never considered as a young man. Though it is part of life, it is painful to see your legends and heroes pass away.
Dan lived and breathed drag racing in the very best ways. When I was involved with the original Musclecar Nationals in the late 1980s, he was a huge help at our Gainesville event due to his advice and support. |
Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
I am glad to have gotten to meet him at Gainesville back in the 90's.

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
It’s interesting that this thread popped back up now. Coming home after we withdrew from Virginia I drove past Dan’s shop. Kinda sad to see. Looking a little run down. Several old cars out front. Went by so fast couldn’t id them. Wondered what treasures might still be in the shop. RIP Dan. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

Re: GODSPEED Dan Dvorak
I drove by his shop (too fast) last year and regretted not turning around. I saw a '63 Dodge wagon and a sedan without a front end.
Rest in Peace Dan. |
