Division 7 news
I see they raised winnings and entry fees. I guess I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw. Where do I find the schedule for the double header coming up in Phoenix? I sure hope it's not going to 110 degrees by then.
Update to Purse and Entry Fee Going For Remainder of 2021 and Beyond The largest overall purse increase for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in D7 history is here! Beginning with the upcoming double-header at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in September. Basically every paying position has been increased with the new winner purse of $2,000 topping the list (up from $1200). The new entry fee for the LODRS events will be $200 (up from $170). Re: Division 7 news
Here you go Paul, link to register is on the track’s website as well. Taking siesta 2-6 is one way to avoid heat exhaustion, going to be lots of generators doing overtime.

Re: Division 7 news
Thanks a bunch Jim. Nap time at the Hotel and plenty of bench racing.

I just talked to Earl Blake and he is making the hotel stay. I'll let you know as soon as he calls.

Re: Division 7 news
Really feel for my D-7 buds, you know it’s going to be hot as HADES when the track shuts down from 2 to 6 pm …..Thank the LORD it’s a dry heat in PHOENIX, weather history shows highs expected close to 100 degrees ….

Re: Division 7 news
I always struggle getting to the lanes before my 440 is 130 degrees. We end up pitting 1/2 mile from the staging lanes. Then it's up hill the last 200'
waiting to pair up. I'm sure like last year. They will be all over you if don't have a mask on. Paul |
Re: Division 7 news
The average temperature for the weekend of the WHP divisional is 101. I don't know why they couldn't have at least scheduled it for May when they knew about the state fair situation when they did. Track schedules can be changed, look at Sonoma. That being said I don't see how with over 2000 Covid per day the Indians and CDC will allow it to happen and the same applies for Vegas and Pomona even though they are scheduled for later in the year. We'll see!

Re: Division 7 news
Gosh darn it as my Mom would say. I hate being a woose because of the heat. I got diagnosed this January with some medical problems and the pills and hot weather just don't mix well. You know me Rick I'm a pick up and an open trailer still. Last of my breed. The "Dime rocket" of towing.
I'll have to gives this some serious thought. And here I just put the stocker parts back into the Dart. Paul Haszlauer |
Re: Division 7 news
And now the fair got changed back to the fair grounds not wildhorse.
|
Re: Division 7 news
And the plot thickens. I'd say if someone was smart he'd get with the track and move the race to Oct 21-24. Better chance of getting a car count than the way it's scheduled now.

Re: Division 7 news
I just emailed Mike Rice asking with the current situation to consider rescheduling The WHP race to later in September or better yet in my opinion Oct 21-24. There's nothing on the WHP schedule for that weekend. If anyone else is concerned about having a safe/fun race I strongly urge you to do so. Call or email or both!
|
Re: Division 7 news
Good idea! Rescheduling the WHP race would also greatly help the car count at Tucson the prior weekend. The CA crowd could hit three races with one tow to AZ.... Of course this is making too much sense, and will likely never happen.
|
Re: Division 7 news
Just received a reply...Its too late to change the schedule and in October they will be at the CHRR in Bakersfield.
|
Re: Division 7 news
Still time for the Tribe to change the date. Ya never know with Covid.
|
Re: Division 7 news
Any bets they cancel Phoenix because of covid and gets moved to Las Vegas. Nevada is a little better than Arizona as covid goes.
Paul |
Re: Division 7 news
SO you want it postponed or moved because of heat .. good idea

Re: Division 7 news
Most would find it better not to race in 100 degree temp and a 150 degree track temp. Last year the Phoenix race was also delayed to Oct and it was in the 90 degree area as a high. The car count was terrible. 32 Superstock, 60 stockers, 21 Superstreet and so on. Why they keep cancelling when nothing has change is crazy. They made it worse.
I'm personally vaccinated but I still don't want to need a mask standing in my pit area. Specially when it is hot outside. I got warned twice last year standing outside my truck or car in my pit all alone. The Indian reservation folks are pretty strict on the subject. They kept announcing they would stop the race if we were not following the rules. It isn't any cooler in Las Vegas in the first week of September either. Paul |
Re: Division 7 news
Only issue I see with moving it is if you work a regular job gonna be tough to get all that time outta work! Not to mention the 750-900 miles away from home you gotta cover!
I know fly, but some or at least my pocketbook may not like that either! Is what it’s gonna be and you do what you can! Gonna be a fun sept, oct, nov though! |
Re: Division 7 news
If it's a go I'll be there. Sick of watching racing from a laptop.

Re: Division 7 news
By the way Scott. Hats off to you guys that put the miles in out west here. I'm always amazed seeing you all putting in the effort to support the sport
It seems I had more travel time when I was a dodge dealer service manager. Surely a few extra dollars. Got old and hate traveling alone these days I guess. Paul |

Paul: You always are welcome to travel and pit with
us anytime you would like! I have not forgotten the the hard work and sage help you gave me some 25 years ago to get my Demon straightened out and running competitively. |
Re: Division 7 news
Thanks John see you soon in Phoenix. Thanks for your help and support through the years as well.

Re: Division 7 news
Pete, I made a room reservation for Earl and I at Laquinta. With an AARP or AAA card they give you a 10% discount. I should get 20% I figure. Yeah right!

Re: Division 7 news
They posted the entry info on NHRARACER for the phoenix race. I got down to the last part of the form and it say your money is not refundable. Really!! So if anything happens, Things like you get sick, break down and who knows. You donate 400.00. Must be time to retire.

Re: Division 7 news
Come on Paul, pull the trigger....what could go wrong LOL. Mine will be a last minute decision.
|
Re: Division 7 news
I made a hotel reservation for this race....but ONLY because they would allow cancellation up to Sept 6.
I have been burned before by this No Cancellation policy at a racetrack and I will not be burned again. I will wait until I see the temps come down to something a fat guy can endure! |

Re: Division 7 news
Just and FYI for those considering attending the PHX double div races. You will be able to purchase tickets at the gate. That was confirmed with Mike Rice as of yesterday. The schedule shows a break in the day from 2pm-6pm then we race into the night. Night racing in the desert is great in my opinion. Hope to see many of you there!

Re: Division 7 news
Anyone have a tech card link if you pay at the gate?

A couple weeks back when I showed up at Heartland Motorsports Park unannounced, they handed me a url address on my receipt that I entered into my cell phone to complete. I was somewhat apprehensive as I normally do this from a desktop, however it proved to be just as easy from the phone. Don't really know if that's Mike's plan but if so it really was no big sweat... |
Re: Division 7 news
I see Las Vegas National hasn't lost any luster. Stock filled with 8 grade points. There sure isn't a bad pit spot. Weather is normally good and there isn't a problem with a curfew. You get an air show every day from Nellis air force base. Las Vegas Raiders are off this weekend too.

Re: Division 7 news
I was told by Mike Rice when you pay at the gate. They will give you a link for your phone or laptop to fill out a tech card. Personally I can barely answer it if my phone rings.
