"Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
Good morning from day 1 at Galot. Today we have qualifying for the LODRS event which is the 5th division 2 event of the year. Tomorrow is eliminations and Sunday will be the Open race. There is a good chance of weather for tomorrow and the place looks full so hopefully we can get it all in.
Super Street has been called to the lanes so it's time to get it cranked up. |

Dam James, you beat me to it...
This is the first time for me at GALOT Motorsport Park. What a great facility, this place has to be one the the nicest tracks I have ever been to. I have never ran the 1/8 before so this should be interesting. Here are a few photos from the pits... be back later. |
Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
I personally don’t care for the 1/8th mile stuff that much. As I stare at the tach to make the 2-3 shift, I’m at the finish line. Makes it tough to judge.
But, have fun to all that are there and good luck! |
Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
Brett the hillbilly half tracking ain't that bad but definitely prefer to run full track. I can live with it once a year especially at a facility as nice as this one and it's a hour and half commute here for me.
We are currently in a sprinkle delay, we were about to start round 2 of qualifying when it started spitting a little. Still don't have sheets out for 1st run..... |
Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
For those who didn't know, this race is on NHRA.TV/Sportsman. Just checked.

We are into the 3 rd of qualifying, there are about 60 Stockers and 60 Super Stockers... no qualifying sheet up yet do to class confusion. They have to edit in each car to get the correct index and class. As soon as they finish I will post.

How does AHFS apply to 1/8th mile racing?
|
Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
No AHFS for 1/8th.

If anyone knows Brent Pozzi in the 2968 AA/SA, (if he is the driver in the pic below in this thread) is he really tall or does he just have loose belts in this pic? His head appears to be pushed hard into the headliner. It could be pic angle or an anomaly. I am NOT the fun or safety police, nor trying to tell anyone else how to race. As a 6'4" guy who is all torso and has a giant head (thus a huge helmet) I remember the struggle it was to get my head below the headliner cage bars in our 69 Chevelle. I couldn't fully, but went as low as possible. I have the kirkey pushed hard into the stock floor pan and I had to 'flatten' the crouch strap to floor mount a bit to even get the grade 8 bolt in. AA/SA are fast cars and racing accidents happen, just trying to look out for him/ others...

Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
Well it's a little wet around here this morning. We had some showers last night but nothing really to worry about then at about 5:30 this morning a pretty bad storm blew through. Hopefully we can get things dried out by midday.
Andy like Gump said those Pozzi boys are on the large side, like football player large. |

Gotcha and thanks to you both. I am football player large as well. Literally got stuck in my Dad's super comp dragster when I was 15 in shorts and a t-shirt and had to be yanked out by 2 guys. The struggle is real. :D |

In today's environment we really can't be body shaming Brent like this we run the risk of being cancelled!

Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
Big shout out to the D2 and Galot crew, the weather looked miserable this morning but they were able to find the right window get the track dry and get the race done.
Also my apologies for some terrible reporting, my photo app is not working so I can't upload anything so I pretty much gave up. I bowed out in the 4th round to Jeff Strickland the eventual winner in Stock and he also doubled as he won in TD also. We run the Open tomorrow and I think the weather is supposed to be good. |
Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
I was a spectator today, A lot of close racing, Congratulations to all winner's!! That Cat that double up is a tough dude..

Good morning folks, today we run the Open, start time is 9am and the weather looks good. Just a few thoughts on yesterdays race and Galot in general. What a great place to race, don't let the 1/8 mile stop you from making the trip, I promise you will love this place. There are power hook ups everywhere for your motorhome, lots of black top to park on and nice wide lanes to drive throughout the pits. There is a dump station for your rv, and clean modern bathrooms. The track is smooth and the scoreboards are the best I have ever seen. I have never raced 1/8 mile so it was a learning experience for me. I don't talk much about my racing, as there is not much to talk about...lol, but things happen very fast and you have less time to make the right call. Another really nice thing about being here for me is... everyone is so nice, polite and just plain friendly. So many people were so welcoming, I was humbled. Cody Phillips and family put on a super nice barbeque, a great bunch of people... it was good times for sure. Well I guess that's it for now, I should have an in car camera later today if all goes well, its a stick car so it should be a fun ride. |

And the rest rooms across from the scales have shower facilities with endless hot water ! Should the owner someday acquire the land to extend track to 1/4 mile racing, I believe this location could hold a National event one day. Perfect location halfway between the northeast and Fla. and only 3 miles off I-95. Easy access ! |

Re: "Live" from Galot LODRS 2-5
Thanks for adding that note Tabitha I had meant to mention it earlier. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it due to my kids having things scheduled.
One thing I do want to mention as well I was fortunate enough to be making rounds this past weekend so I was dreading the dinner plans. Thank goodness I had a few invites from other racers but our pit neighbor Dell Britt invited us over. Let me tell you something I have always seen Dell grilling at the track for as long as I can remember but if he ask you over to eat jump at the chance! He had two grills full of prime rib and I was almost glad Strickland stuck it to me so I could eat. Anyway just wanted to give Dell and Ms Linda a shout out for dinner and Strick for getting me there before it was gone! Congrats to Jeff also for his double in Stock and TD. |
