SS & STK classes not full for Dallas?

With the entry deadline just 3 days away, why aren't these fields full?

27 spots open in SS and 16 open spots for Stock.

Looks like last year only had 53 entries in SS and 54 in Stock. Previous years also seem to not fill up.

Has the quota always been 70 or did NHRA bump it up for this event?

Is there another race that weekend that's drawing racers away? Maybe it's just logistically difficult for some?

I'm just curious.

Matt, we really APPRECIATE your input on this forum. I can’t answer your question BUT it appears some racers are just WISING up…
After all, they do call it the DEATHPLEX ….that LEFT lane is downright DANGEROUS …

Horrible pit conditions would be a good place to start.

Man Super Stockers are by far my favorite category. It's just so cool watching those things. I've always enjoyed going to BG on Saturdays and watching round 1 of SS after the alcohol cars. It's just a neat way to end the day while the sun goes down.

Tied for 2nd would be Stock and comp eliminator. Hats off to all of you hardcore guys and gals.

I had no idea the left lane had issues! What's wrong with it? Has anybody brought it to the attention of the track or NHRA? It's our first time going there.

Your dragster will be fine ….it’s not like you guys will be hitting the brakes at 1200 feet to avoid breaking out ….

NHR the truck operators and racers have known forever it is a problem.
The pit situation is also a mess. I know racers who will in Oklahoma that will pass on the motorplex even though they are just going to be a few hours away.

Matt, please take a trip out to the sportsman pits. You might just find an answer to your question

We plan on making 3 of the 4 qualifiers which is no small feat for the lowest funded nitro team with crew guys and gals who all have normal Monday - Friday jobs. So my free time could be incredibly limited. But if I'm able to get away I will absolutely do that. I'm assuming the sportsman pit area is the large grass field on the left side of the track beginning at the finish line?

Down at the end past the asphalt

Look for the large dust bowl or the big mud pit...pending weather.

Mr. Candies defined the problem very well. “ No you can’t park there this is reserved for XXX”. A day later the person that gets the spot races the same Stock eliminator as we do. Just don’t lie to us.

Div 4 has a parking problem at most tracks, which has led to a Competitive Parking Diva League with multiple players who are willing to pay fees for favors

The same reason S SS counts are low at Denver, everything I mean everything is filthy after 3 days.

I have never been ED . I don’t race at CHITHOLE tracks, or tracks that don’t give the racers paper time slips. ……..Can’t wait for the debut of your new ride …..

This is not good news. I raced there in the 90’s . I don’t remember it being a bad place at all. I need to get out more I guess?

Yep…you need to get the out more!
Two examples…
Rubber coin flooring from the starting line to 200+ feet. Safety issue!
Mud bog pits for parking.

When you get stuck at Nobile you are STUCK.The ground there grabs your tires.Last time I was there had to unhook and pull motorhome and trailer out by themselves. Won't go anywhere near that place if there has been any rain there for at least a week before race. Not a bad place otherwise.

I have to say that I wasn’t crazy about the prospect of digital time slips here at St. Louis, but I’ve come to love it!

It does need to be implemented well, and it’s pretty good. Being near a major city with good phone service is also a plus.

Bubski says “if the damage wasn’t done “ and the COPO FWD stockers weren’t dead !! and the new wieght breaks weren’t so egregious!! Than the field would be full !!

Well, as usual, you all were correct. The sportsman pit area is a dust bowl! And the pro pit has all of about 1 inch of asphalt. Of which a TON of it is breaking up. And EVERYTHING was covered in dust.

Definitely not my favorite track.
