Any word on the Lucas schedule for 2022

I heard that it was supposed to be posted last weekend. I also heard Rumours they were moving Orlando from a very good date in Feb to a fall date. Hope they are thinking about that.

I would hate to see them change the Orlando race. I plan to come south and race Orlando fly home and come back to race both the Gainesville races. BP

Orlando is moving to the October race now. We will start in SGMP this year. Just not sure of the date. The schedule was supposed to be out last weekend. Wish it would be published already

Not this year Barry, the first pts meet is at South Ga. on the first February weekend .

It's still real cold for racing that time of year in George. Hoping they have the big pay Stock Super Stock race after Gainesville I'll hit that one. BP

February in Georgia is winter temperatures, you can only hope that they have a good weekend. Don't understand NHRA thinking on the changing of the schedule that's been in place for as long as I know of. Just my thoughts.

February marks the end of winter in most parts of Georgia. ... Despite being the last month of snow in Georgia, February is the snowiest month recording an average of 0.2 inches (5 millimeters) of snow over 0.9 snowfall days.

I agree the last two years it has been a little chilly and that was the third weeks of the month. Not sure what everyone was thinking with this move. Maybe they have not released the schedule yet as can only hope they are looking at changes.

Well SGMP is south ga, but looking back to Feb.19 of this year the high that day was 50 degrees.

Hope Orlando gets a race early like an Open at least. I realize it is up to the track and nhra together so who knows?

Logistically it just makes too much sense to have Orlando and Gainesville back to back so I'm sure they'll change it just to screw with us.....

With fuel prices with no end in sight, NHRA needs to have races A to B to C then home.

Larry hit the nail on the head! I live further than most from the races(Canada), and plan on doing a lot of racing this year. Florida
was on my radar, but I won't go to race SGMP, wait a month for the baby Gators, and then home(not enough grade points for the Gators). I would however, go to SGMP, Orlando, baby Gators, Bo's race and the Elite race, and come home with 3 grade points, 5 races, and a nice tan.

Nhra should do something to help out our Canadian friends that we’re not able to cross the border and get grade points

Re: NHRA Lucas race schedule

Norwalk just announced their 2022 Schedule with the LODRS being June 2-5, so from what I've seen in previous years, the official announcement is usually the next couple days

Re: NHRA Lucas race schedule

Galot posted their 2022 schedule couple days ago showing their September date (14th-17th) and saw a knowledgeable source posting that they are ironing out the D6-D7 schedule. Would think they’ll give our Canadian friends their 2019 grade points.

J.R. Haddad 11-12-2021 09:17 PM

Re: NHRA Lucas race schedule

They have up until now. However, some racers got across the border
prior to the official date of Nov.8/2021. It was a crapshoot, as some
got through, and some got turned away, it just depended on who
you got, and what border crossing you went to. This may lead NHRA
to think the border was re-opened, and anybody could cross. This was
not the case, so I hope they will leave the 2019 Grade Points in place,
or give the Canadians a choice, 2019 or 2021. It was a silly deal, as I
could fly anywhere in the U.S., but not drive. If I didn't have Covid
before the flight, I probably would have got it before landing!

Keep in mind the Tracks have a lot of input in these dates. They don't make a lot off these events so NHRA works with them.
Also heard we are going back to Silver Dollar anything to that?

Anymore on the Open Series?

Cody mentioned at Rockingham that the open series would take a little longer to get completed. He thought the schedule would be out by either the Vegas national or division race and that has not happened. Orlando posted the 2022 schedule but no division race at all.

I heard we will be going to Silver Dollar again also no just need to wait and see. Hopefully it gets posted this week.

Chip, I was going to mention that a few days ago. I know speaking to a few D1 tracks while putting together my .90 schedule, they have told me it's hard to take a T&T or and Import event off their schedules for a Divisional when it's all money makers. With all the T&T, Grudge, Bracket Events (If run properly), Import events sometimes a Divisional takes a backseat to these money makers. Nothing against a Divisional but, the tracks can make some cash on a Divisional but, we all know it's tough to get people in the seats if John Force isn't in attendance. Just look at SGMP, one week you have the Duck events and the place it packed to the gills, the following weekend you have the D2 event and have 10 people in the stands and your wondering if they got to drunk the week before and decided to stay in between events..lol. I mean Bader had the right mindset with the Cavalcade of Stars, let them in for Free but, up the price on certain items so you make a buck or two at a Divisional (Like the old ADRL approach)..I think Bandimere did the same thing this year and the place was PACKED. You go to Cecil or Atco on a Friday night and you swear it's a National event with the people in the stands, hanging along the fence and the 7 or 8 lanes of T&T cars....all paying $25-30 and it's cash in hand for the track, it's hard to give that stuff up. So I'm sure they are all trying to plan things out accordingly to good weekends that they don't have something planned already. It might not fit into our plans but, they have to do what they can to keep these tracks open.

Re: NHRA Lucas race schedule

I think if they made class runoffs an option for the test and tune day, it would be of interest to several more cars that would not go otherwise.

As part of tnt it could be excluded from AHFS if they wanted to. I would just charge an extra charge and only allow entry for those also entered in the LODRS.

Figure out what it would need to be $$$ so the track makes a buck and try it.

Heck they could even offer a grudge deal where racers put up x amount of $$$ to race each other heads up no breakout

I think it would attract more cars. It also would leave those rest of the day for teardown.

There’s some things I don’t understand (such as why Ozzy would be willing to swap SGMP and Orlando dates, don’t see how it will not hurt both car counts but guess it’s his business and he’s pretty savvy). Wish Burton would let us enjoy a Divisional at Charlotte and/or Bristol but again I don’t pretend to be a successful businessman.

Smart money would be to park your rig somewhere in D4 if Brogdon is paying out the bonus fund again in 2022.

I was told they did not ask for one that is why they did not get it. I think they might get a national open so maybe that is to see if they can get car count before going in for a divisional.

Not sure why Orlando was swapped to the end of the year but as Jim stated Ozzy must have a reason.

Your right about input... when a track is buying, Read that: Paying NHRA for an event...
I saw a statement on here that said "Montgomery didn't ASK for one"
Simply open the check book and pay for one. That us up to the track owners discretion. Last time I talked to Todd at Tulsa he said it took about 400 entries to break even on a points meet. Remember the large financial loss San Antonio suffered with the storms hitting Louisiana??
Track owners put on events to make money and just the prestige of having an even can be costly.
Track owners that put on NHRA divisional events need our support.

We just really need to hope and pray for a dry spring here in the Northeast or it could get ugly. This is just the first few weeks of racing in D1 and the National Open schedule hasn't been finalized. I know some will say that we have Mid-Summer to fill in any delays but, that is the time now that the local series come to life, ECSSSA, ASRA, Mid Atlantic .90, NESSA and it's tough to grab a date once the track's schedule is completed....heck I had tracks calling me in Mid September for dates.

22nd to 24th – Houston National / Atco D1 /Silver Dollar (D2)
29th to 1st – Charlotte National / Galot Fling Race /Bowling Green PDRA

May
6th to 8th – Mother’s Day Weekend (No Racing)
13th to 15th – Virginia National Event
20th to 22nd – Cecil D1 Race /Rockingham (D2)
27th to 29th – Lucas Oil Event at MG / PDRA Norwalk

June
3rd to 5th – New England Nationals / Norwalk D3
10th to 12th – Leb Valley Lucas
17th to 19th – Father’s Day (19th) /Bristol National
