I was paying $75 for a 5 gallon pail last year

Re: C-11
Every thing went up the first of Dec about 30 + a 54 gal drum. Another hike coming Feb some time .Freight and inputs going up daily. I did get in 20+ drums yesterday for early orders. If you use less than 2 gallons per run it is still the cheapest thrill per dollar in town. C11 now is almost a 100. in 5 gal pail 54 drums 800. C12 mid eighties 650 + in drums. C16 875. drum 100+ in pails. Go fast C25 120 pails and 1100. for a drum. Tom

Re: C-11
I bought 5 gallons at Gateway WWTR. It was $100. No mention of price increases at the time.
|
Re: C-11
I heard that VP was raising the price of the drums and 5 gallon pails themselves, due to increased steel prices for the materials for the gas containers. I believe that the added price of a 55 gallon barrel itself is 25 or 30 dollars per drum. That is in addition to any increase to the actual fuel in the drum.

I paid $119.95 at S&K on Long Island for a 5 Gal. container of C-11. I'm going to the dyno soon and wanted to be sure I had enough. I might be going back to pump gas for dyno testing in the future, its cheaper and makes roughly the same power. It was $109.95 from them earlier in the year. Still the most fun I have with my clothes on! Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

Time to have no fuel checks in Stock. Run pump gas in your low compression stocker.

Re: C-11
Henry, It’s much cheaper buying it by the drum then 5 gal cans. The Hazmat charge is the same, whether it’s 5 gallons or 54 gallons. C25 used to cost me 17.00 a gallon in a 54 drum. It was at least 20 if not 25 in a 5 gal can. It’s definitely the way. I’ll never buy it any other way, especially if I’m running a complete season. I know that’s not for everyone though. I also heard about VP raising their prices this year. I haven’t bought my fuel yet this year, so I don’t know how that is going change.

You are absolutely correct. I did buy some to make sure I would have enough fuel to finish the dyno session. I do buy fuel by the drum and it is cheaper per gallon then the 5 gallon containers. I was just showing the price increase a couple of months made and it looks like it will increase again. Yes, we went through the pump gas / race gas situation, no need to keep beating that horse. Unfortunately this is a small part of a big picture and I'll keep going as long as I physically can. Have a Good Day. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |
Re: C-11
Atco's fuel prices were very high for the last few years.....
$100 for 5 gals of any high octane VP or Sunoco when they had it. Much cheaper buying from better sources and larger amounts.... C-11 was $1 more than C-12 the last time I was running either fuel....and for me made very little difference.. The hard part is getting it and transporting it in drums, always has been but it saves a lot of money. |
Re: C-11
There is a Sunoco dealer in Oakhurst that became a full line VP dealer last fall. Call Phil @ 732-496-0098,and see what he can do. He also races and tries to help on prices. John Kissel

Re: C-11
Not trying to slam anybody trying run on a budget, class racing cost money and I would be more concerned with the price of towing verse the price of race gas, Why after spend all the time building the best motor you can then try to get by on the inconsistent of the and quality of pump gas? I guess flame away. Tom

Re: C-11
Forgive me if I am ignorant. Where is this $1000 drum of fuel? I see where people have posted about $100 pails (5 gallons). The smaller the quantity the greater the cost per gallon. It has always been that way. We buy multiple drums at a time. This way the shipping costs is shared among the entire shipment. Over the last few years the shipping has gone up more than the fuel (percentage wise). Shipping costs of a single pail/barrel versus multiple barrels is almost negligible.
I do agree fuel per pass is probably one of the cheapest performance costs in racing, especially if you amortize the costs for everything we buy/use for racing (car, engine, transmissions, motorhome, truck, trailer, hotel, food, beer, etc...) Heck some racers have more in their paint jobs than Billy has in his entire operation Ultimately each person must decide what their price point is for racing or performance and what their goals are. Billy's price point is probably the lowest of all current racers, but then again he is focused on performance gains vs cents not dollars. If he wanted to build an AA/SA '69 Camaro everybody else would probably want change classes/combinations. Thankfully Billy has different goals/views on racing and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. |

Why thank you Bill, that's quite a compliment!

Re: C-11
Price of fuel is going to go up, sometimes I wonder how long does fuel stay "fresh" to pass fuel check over time. Have had fuel that was over 8 months old that passed and failed, have had fuel pass and not pass after a week.
|
Re: C-11
yes VP has went up,but it never was cheap... I have new price list in, a email, but I haven't printed it...Everything has increased in price....
I have used C-11 for many years and never failed fuel check, that wasn't my own fault.. you can't leave it in the cell or a fuel jug between races... I have kept in a barrel or can for 2 years and pass... some was going on 3 years(,last of a barrel) old got borderline..I may switch to C-12 this year if works good for me,save close to $100.00 a barrel over C-11 |

Here you go .In the PA area ... and they'll deliver up to 4 drums for an additional $95 https://petroleumservicecompany.com/...ane-race-fuel/ And, on another note , Australia has outlawed leaded in all motor sports since July 2019, Unleaded only, Including Pro Stock,,, probably here in the not too distant future... |

Re: C-11
I get C12 right from a pump at a VP distribution center, the other day I got 15 gallons of fuel and it was $13. a gallon. Since I had seen this link, I asked how much C11 was which they only sell in the pail, it was $102.50. That's just over $20. a gallon, you have to ask yourself if it's worth the slight performance difference over C12 or C10.

Re: C-11
Just a little off subject but what is the current price for a 5 gallon can of c-16?
|
Re: C-11
Just priced C-12 in the Phoenix Area at $854 for a 55 gallon drum.
|
Re: C-11
Vp fuels comes in 54 gal phenolic coated drums, not bare steel like other companies. So yes it cost more for there drums. 95 + for c16 . Tom

Re: C-11
By the way for you guys keeping score at home as I just checked this today NHRA has axed off all Rockett and Dragon race fuels from the accepted list..... There goes more options.... Your only options now are Sunoco,Renegade or VP.
