FAST old gray box software
I don't know if the software I have is incomplete or what but the only tuning I seem to be able to do is acceleration enrichment, I can't find a way to change the pulsewidth or A/F ratio. Anybody have any tunes or software for this thing? It's on a 350 TPI motor.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Go to this link: https://www.fuelairspark.com/software-downloads
Then look for "C-Com WP - For Grey Box FAST ECU" |
Re: FAST old gray box software
When I click that link all I get is a bunch of garbage about gaming and advertisements.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Link works for me.
Then scroll down to the early software download. |
Re: FAST old gray box software
So I figured out how to use the software I have so I don't need anything but time to play with it. The problem I was having was running too rich at idle and blacking the plugs. I got that fixed.

Re: FAST old gray box software
I just about have this thing straightened out but I can't get the O2 sensor to work. Any body that knows anything about EFI knows without an O2 your tuning blind. I guess I'm going to have to call FAST. That'll kill about an hour or two.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Any ideas? I still can't get the O2 to read. Wondering if I get a separate O2 can I overlay it on my graph to try to get the fuel right.

Re: FAST old gray box software
I have an almost new FAST XFI used on my TPI motor for about 20 passes for sale. Includes wiring, ECU, O2 Sensor, software, works perfect. PM me if interested. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

Re: FAST old gray box software
So FAST is telling me this thing will never run right without an O2 reading. I thought if you ran it in open loop, which I thought everybody did, it wouldn't matter if it gets an O2 signal or not.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Open or closed I have heard opinions both ways.
But you def need O2 for logging and tuning |

Question. Have you tried making a pass with the O2 in it, or is this a new setup and you are just trying it while running the engine. If the O2 is way back in the collector and you are not at full throttle you will not get a reading. I took a gray box out of my car because the O2 stopped reading and the logger failed. It may be more beneficial to purchase a used Fast 2.0. They are very good and usually on the market at a reasonable price. |
Re: FAST old gray box software
Jim I'm in the same boat. The logger quit and I can't get a reading out of the O2 sensor. I have not made a pass to see if the O2 reads, I've just been playing in the shop with it. I was considering buying the FAST A/F unit because it has a built in data recorder so instead of pin the tail on the donkey it'll be more like darts.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Mike like I said if the O2 is way back in the collector you wont see a reading unless under extreme load. Try putting up on the converter 3,000-3300. You may see it read then.

Re: FAST old gray box software
Taking your advice Jim and buying an XFI. I don't see that I have an alternative.

Re: FAST old gray box software
I got my new XFI and I don't see a connector for the MSD distributer. Anybody know the solution to this problem?
|
Re: FAST old gray box software
So I downloaded the software from FAST on my laptop and was able to view the schematics and instructions and it's clear as mud which connector goes on which injector. Thanks FAST. Maybe it doesn't matter which injector you plug the wire into.

Also MSD distrubutor should be black /violet to Fast crank connector red wire and black/orange to Fast crank connector black wire. Crank trigger application would be green wire on crank trigger to red wire on fast and violet on crank trigger to black wire on fast |

Hope this helps Ernie Neal SS 354 |
Re: FAST old gray box software
Thanks Ernie, it came with the adapter for the TPS but not the one for the Msd dist. I had to make an adapter for the dist.

Re: FAST old gray box software
So, I got my new XFI installed and now the car won't start. I'm ready to push it in the pond.
|
Re: FAST old gray box software
Well I found a few settings I had wrong and fixed those and she's sounding good now. I wasn't really gonna push it in the pond anyway.
