Do you want to go fast? Or maximize gear life? That would be good to know.

I’ll second that. Use it in my stocker and bracket car. Never a problem. And easy to get at the local auto parts store. My Orielys stocks a couple bottles.

Dave is right, Superlight shock proof will work well in rear set up correctly. Full disclosure, Red Line sponsors our race teams, but when thinking about what oil to buy and what companies to support, I think it is important to look at that. Red Line isn't the only company supporting drag racers, but when it comes to gear oil, I don't think there is a better product.

We use all three gear oils, super light works well in our stick stockers with 12 bolts. In the super stocker, we run the heavy due to weight, clutch, and HP and have seen a difference in gear life in that car.

Any questions, just ask or stop by at the track.

Re: Gear Oil

I haven't tried it. I've heard of it being used in a heads up situation, not sure I'd run it all the time.

Red line or if you don't put a whole lot of laps on a car JD TDH winter blend fluid--- but keep an eye on everything ---stuff works but very thin not for putting it in in March and running it for 200 laps either til November ---

Re: Gear Oil

I think most if the synthetic stuff is really good so there may not be a lot of difference in them.

That being said, we run redline super lightweight shockproof in the trans and rear end of our 66 Nova E stick car and Redline lightweight shockproof in our SSGT superstock stick car without any issues ever. That stuff seems clingy and super slick at the same time.

Tried some stuff that a PS team gave us once. It looked like ATF. 283 four speed stocker 2900 lbs. it literally ate the ring gear in 3 passes…

Re: Gear Oil

Anyone have experience with using DLC (Diamond Like Coating) on ring gears? I know that Nascar uses (or had used) that coating for durability and friction reduction. I know, not apples to apples, but just curious.

Re: Gear Oil

After having some issues with gear life in the past using Red Line shock proof(blue stuff) I started using this brand 12-15 years ago:

If it robs you of any et I cant say but it solved my ”wear issues” !
