MSD Wires??

I have always used MSD #31183 universal wires and have had very good success. I recently purchased a set for my friends car and when I installed I noticed that the slightest bend to the multi angle spark plug end made the wire feel loose at the plug. I took one apart and the crimp was as thin as a sand blasted beer can. They are so flimsy if you bend them it feels like they will break off. I reached out to local speed shop and he says they are made in China!!! Has anyone else had issues?

Thanks

We have noticed that lately as well.

We buy bulk wire and make them at this point.

We replace Coil Wire every 10 races or so.

Why is that?

Coil wire gets used at least eight times more than any other.

Thumbs up for Firecore. 4 years on bracket motor with nitrous and zero misfires or burned up boots at header.

We have run MSD wires for decades = the quality of the
fittings and assembly have deteriorated significantly last few
years. The wire itself seems fine to my uneducated eye.
For that matter the quality of everything MSD is become
worrisome lately and the life of their components seems
shorter.

Agreed. See "Made In China" on much of their stuff. Damned PE firms.

I've used Moroso forever. Assemble my own.

Many years ago, I had a conversation with tech rep from Autometer about RFI, etc. - everybody knew the guy. I think he took over a track in West Virginia at some point, but his name escapes me. He told me wires should be replaced every year. Coil wire twice a year. Made sense. I followed the advice, never had any problems with wires.

Re: MSD Wires??

Thanks very much for the opinions. I am going to go with the Moroso on performance cars. I see lots of companies (Reher Morrison) use the 8mm Blue max and I am considering those. On a street/show car I am also considering the Jegs/Summit brands. They are made in the USA and reasonably priced when costs up here are out of control.
Thanks again

The larger Summit wire is the same as the Firecore.

I have a set of the smaller 8mm Summit wires on my SBC street driven Camaro. Quite pleased with them so far, limited miles driven the last 2 summers.

When you fill out a request for info on a web site, it would be nice if they would respond. Had a question for Scott and Firecore for semi-custom wires and got nothing back. Even asked Scott twice.

Update:
Rick from Firecore did call me back. Wireset on order.
