I was wondering if the schedule is correct or a misprint.

If this is true, that is sure going to leave a mark on car counts

Re: Division 7 National opens

Sacramento Raceway Park website shows Friday test n tune, Saturday qualifying and Sunday eliminations. Super disappointing to not have a double race. If it wasn't just 1.5 hours from my house, not sure it would be worth the effort, but the weather forecast is great 85, 78 and 80 degrees.

But why are they mixing the national open with a junior dragster double divisional? Why can't they be on different weekends? The juniors start running around 8:00 am and stock qualifying starts at 10:00 am. Don't they understand one of the most redeeming qualities of Sacramento Raceway is the great DA in the early morning? The prospect of fast, possibly record breaking time tickets for performance based classes/racers will draw more cars, and its a National Open, so no hit in the AHFS data base. As I sit here at 8:40 am, the Sacramento DA is 473, by 10:00 am it will likely be 1600. Heck, if they ran class on Friday, under these conditions, which we rare in Division 7 anymore, then a Double race Saturday and Sunday, I bet quite a few more cars would show up. Throw in a Racer BBQ/tear down party Friday evening under a shade structure and you got a fun event. Oh well, I guess I am just California dreamin.

I'm guessing the 4th race opportunity will be rescheduled. Being Bakersfield is already a double. I can't see an open happening there this year anyway.

Last year at Open they ran Jrs and they
seemed to degrade the track and an I did was
spin and my car seldom ever spins.
I got the same feedback from other racers
at the track.

I am OUT!

I'm no authority on Jr Dragsters. When we have E.T. races here. The day starts with 2-3 hours of the children league. I take my one and only car, my stocker and hook every pass. It's a Low hp car so maybe that's it.. or maybe the tracks need better prep. Either way if it isn't fun I'll stay home.

Do National Open points count towards championships?

Nominal recognition and awards at the Division level only. Perhaps D1 has more involved since they have the best NO program.

Is the Fallon Open a Double race?
If so I will probably go.
I can not seem to figure out the schedule.

yes the Fallon open is a double.

I E-Mailed Pat Cv. He did say Fallon was a double. There are no plans as of yet to make up the fourth. Not looking well for me talking anyone I normally hang with to go. Doesn't look like grade points are a problem either lately. . Going to the track tomorrow to pick up some C-11 just in case.

Re: Division 7 National opens

Ran the test and tune today. My gauges showed DA between 2100 and 1600 while we ran from 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Traction was okay, high temp was around 83 and we had a tailwind all day. Tomorrow will be a little cooler. Only about 8 stock/super stock ran the test and tune. Hopefully many more will show up tomorrow. Qualifying will start at 10:00 am tomorrow.

Seemed like a lot less racers there on a Friday than I usually see. I am sure the $6.54-7.00+ diesel fuel prices here in Cali are causing more than a few people to stay home.

No points at National Open. You do get a grade point.

Congrats to Jared driving the Big Dog…although Madison’s Hemi car definitely deserves a mention. Great YouTube feed, announcing and camera placement better than Norwalk or Brainerd NHRA productions….gosh I miss the Warren and Unk show.

I lived in Portland, Tn for 13 years and really liked the area. The one thing I didn't like was how many of the tracks were 1/8 mile in the south. I grew up around Detroit so full 1/4 mile is what I was use to. I did spend a lot of time at Union Hill / Music city and the people were always great and some well built cars as well.

Re: Division 7 National opens

Some of the normal Attendance that are always in Sacramento were surely missed. I think there were about 45 cars last year. Somewhere around 19 this year. Being just a single grade point isn't the main reason but boy fuel is.
I added up what it will cost to go to Fallon for myself. ( I'm a 1/2 ton gas powered pick up with an open trailer) 850 round trip mileage, two night stay and entry fees. Eat a couple bologna sandwiches and the trip should only cost about 1100.00-1200.00. Senior on a fixed income here. Seeing that last year Fallon had about 25 cars. If only 10-15 cars show up this year. Will the purse be effected. Even if not the winnings won't cover the cost. You would have to win both. No worries!
Pretty obvious out west here. Grade points for the next few races won't come into play.

Paul

Re: Division 7 National opens

You're correct Paul. Even if we sleep in the trailer it's still a thousand dollar trip for us. Not crazy about sleeping in the trailer in Fallon because there are rattlesnakes all over that place!!!

My guess is that Sonoma will have only 30 or so cars in STK and 20 or less in SS. The only good news is that grade points are all of a sudden not much of a concern.
