Appreciate NHRA and the SRAC working together to make this happen. Know some disagree but it’s nice to see folks show what they’ve got. With a few exceptions we can appreciate the hard work and money invested by those who remember ours are performance based classes. I’m already looking forward to Indy class, even if I’m a first round duck.

Cool should be fun

But I don’t want to hear the AHFS doesn’t work
Because it never will. If there are mulligan given.
Just get rid of it. Only 120. Hits count.

James are you going to go?

I'm glad they had the AHFS in play the last couple of years it really took care of all those under rated combo's!!
How many ended up getting HP in the last 2 years at Indy?? BP

We did not go to Indy last year, but this year will be a different story. I’m glad somebody pulled the rabbit out of their hat to pull this off. With the price of diesel climbing to new heights, it will just costs several hundred more to make this trip.

Re: No ahfs at indy

Now the next question, what will the quotas be? And will they fill up? Hopefully the "great" economy won't put an impact on those who were hoping to race without the AHFS.

Re: No ahfs at indy

Duane, I was not planning on going this year but with no AHFS I kind of have to go with the bitching I've done about it. Told my wife forget the nice coffin just put me in the fire pit a piece at a time. Put the fuel receipts in with me they should keep the flames going. Just less money I'll have to give to Joe's reelection campaign. With the price of diesel I would think it will be a low turnout. But as someone says here all the time " You Can't Put A Price on a Good Time" BP

It's been so long I wonder how many remember how to tune them up for Indy?

1. Loosen distributor and turn.
2. Drain six quarts from oil pan. Put in 4 thin Wt. oil. Or blow up mode 3
3. Pump, Pump, Pump up the volume ( Tires)
4. Get the lead out
5. 10 bags of ice might get you threw the day or for me a round
6 Do everything and anything LOL

Sounds like you have a plan and will have a great time.

Mike I have not always been able to race. As we know it's a time and money deal. A few years back I said I would never miss another Indy. Then they put the AHFS in play and I have not been back. God willing I will be there this year. BP

I left out steps 7- 12 hoping those steps help me qualify!

For the EFI guys I will add the following,

It's the Plus 2 Minus 2 Tune

Add 2 Degrees Timing Map
Remove 2% From the Fuel MAP.

Good Luck,

LOL, just kidding!

I kind of doubt there will be 128 cars this year.
Maybe time to do the quickest 64 to keep out all of the "slow" cars?

All of the other national events are all run so I don’t see why that would be a bad thing at Indy. I have been to Indy several times in years past. I was not fast enough to win class or qualify. I would not even consider going with my car. No way it would qualify under the current system. Maybe do that every other year and alternate with the no AHFS deal. Fuel cost might have some effect on the car count this year or some might see it as their last chance to go if they live a long distance tow from Indy. We may never see fuel prices get back to a level that makes travel affordable again. I guess time will tell on that.

I don’t see Indy ever being all run because of tv time! Indy has way to many classes!

There is no TV on the days that stock and super stock run at Indy. With the reduced quota it would only be an extra 20+- cars in each class. Not a big difference in time to run that few more cars. Doesn’t matter either way to me. If fuel cost remain the way they are now I won’t be traveling much anymore.

Having an all run at Indy would be the exact opposite of what Indy is all about. Stock and Super Stock is a performance based class. All I have ever heard was qualifying for Indy is a highlight only shadowed by winning class and winning the eliminator. . I think it would lose all the apeall if went that route.

The Nat'l points structure is based on 7 rounds, 128 max.
Should we waive that too? :-0
