Hi Gang - We pulled in yesterday afternoon greeted by sunshine and blue skies along with temps in the low eighties .The track had their Wednesday night mufflered cars running with some being out and out race cars that were quiet .After a beautiful sunset everyone went to sleep only to be woke up around 2AM to thunder and lots of the wet stuff .So much for peace and quiet.It continued off and on till it quit around 10 AM .Things were looking up for todays test n tune .Sun came out and the drying began .Until a half hour ago when the skies opened up again .It has now stopped and the Sun is back out but we'll see if the TnT takes place ........

So the Test n Tune did happen today but the number of participants were low with more in the Super categories than Stock/SS .Track seemed to hook well for most and even a few Alcohol cars showed the track could handle horsepower .

Good morning - In an hour or so we'll start our Lucas Oil race # 4 here in Division 1 with from what I've seen is a light turnout .Good news is the Sun is shining with temps in the mid-sixties and climbing .Back after the first Q runs .......

I counted 85 Stockers and 65 Super Stock.

So far so good - Stock has made their second Q run with Barry Parker coming from the #19 spot all the way to the top with a -1.02 under the B/SA index run .S/S is being led so far by Pat Aubin with a -1.06 under his SS/LA index.

Tim Sickles brought out his new 1981 Chevy - 'Malibu Breeze' S/S car - GT/NA with show quality paint and fine craftsmanship - he'll win awards for sure .

Pete, Looks like they are just now running a clean up session.
Maybe we'll see a Q sheet soon, if the Friday afternoon janitor at NHRA flips the switch.

Afternoon kids - Well yes i've been ignoring you but in my defense i've had issues plus the Internet here in the back woods really sucks.

Most of the classes had another Q run or time trial this AM and elims will start in another hour or so starting with Stock.Later ........

Believe they pulled the plug at 5:00 because the round track was scheduled to start then.

Around 3:30 there was a serious pit accident involving a SG car. The incident tied up the rescue personnel which ended the racing for the day. Top dragster and Top Sportsman didn’t get their last Q session completed. Good news was the driver was banged up but not seriously injured. Tomorrow looks a bit iffy, but hopefully the rain holds off long enough to get most of the event completed. Todays weather was about as good as it gets. Mid 70’s, low humidity and a light head wind. Very unusual for L.V. Many racers were headed to the speedway, a big dirt show was on the schedule and if you had a wrist band for the drags it was only $5. Great turnout with around 65 SS and 89 stockers.

While 49 SS and 89 stockers may be a good number, there were 57 SS and 100 stockers in 2021. This is over a 10% decline. It gets worse if we look at pre covid numbers, there were 61 SS and 111 in stock in 2019. That represents a 20% reduction from 2019 to 2022.

The forecast was not great but the impact of inflation (especially diesel prices), and parts availability has really taken its toll on our sport.

In 2019 the ASRA held the Dave LeBrun/Alan Peters memorial race the weekend prior to the Lucas race and racers were allowed to leave their rigs there for the divisional. That might have been a contributing factor for the high numbers that year. Don’t get me wrong. Inflation sucks. These prices are hurting everything.

Always check your dial in before staging. Third round Mike Farrell against Billy Pires. They had Billy dialed 10.38 in his J/SA. Probably 12.38 would have been correct. I bet you Mike noticed it.

Most Definitely The Driver Is Responsible For The Dial, just a shame that
the race went down that way.
Hard Lesson To Learn, but as we all know, you can’t take the dial in on the
scoreboard for granted.

Congrats to all four finalists. Tough break for Billy. Hope Iggie is okay. Glad the weather cooperated. Imagine, a LVD Points race with NO rain!
