Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
In 2019. (Pre Covid) there were 161 cars in stock. The bump was -881 under……..I would be greatly surprised if anyone runs slower than they did 3 years ago. The field size will depend on how many gold card and past world champs enter in the next few weeks …..As usual, we will see some racers withdraw for various reasons,……. Breakage, lack of parts availability, weather forecast ,…..my guess is at least …-90 under…GOOD LUCK to all competitors …..

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
The big question is if there will be a real teardown at a Indy this year. It used to be the place to go to validate if you were quick and fast. It makes a difference. Wasn’t that long ago that the provisional number one in stock got bounced.

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
Do y'all think we need a "Major Award" for this years winner?
|
Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
Last year it was only -536 under with only 134 cars. This year 150 entered so if you do the math it comes out to -864 under. BP

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
I'm still going with an all run field as a guess.
There are a couple of variables that come into play. 1) The weather. If it looks like rain, there will be a ton of cars that pull out the week before the race. 2) Most people know how far under they can run.If it looks like they can't qualify after analyzing what it will "probably take",they will pull out and save the entry and travel costs. 3) Monkeypox/Corona.The mid term election in November will be that much closer by Labor Day.I figure they will starting locking down some areas around the country. 4) A possible hurricane in the gulf could send gas prices to $10 a gallon by then. The strategic oil reserves are greatly depleted. We will see what happens. Good luck to all. |
Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
There’s always many variables in play, including carnage at BG and this year at Norwalk with their NMCA event.

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
#128 in Stock will be -.891

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
I got a chance to race in the biggest race of the year. I don't give a ---- about monkey pox, or strategic oil deposits!

Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
It's close enough now that I guess I better revise my earlier prediction. The weather looks like it will be much better than I expected, resulting in far fewer withdrawals.
I don't know what the exact bump will be,but I would expect a second under in the morning air is what it will take to make it without having to worry about it. |
Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
With Thursday morning weather on pace to be the best air we have seen in many years at this place, I will say. -.900 will not be in the top 128 Stockers on Thursday night after the dust clears. If you look a nitro joe stats 100-110 plus stockers have been around -1.00 this season. At this time that leaves 50 plus cars fighting for around 18 spots.

In 2019, there were 93 cars 1.00 second under, with a similar number of entrants as current projections. The bump in 2019 was 0.867 under. You would have to think people have improved their cars in 3 years, with additional good morning air projected currently. I think that moves the bump .04-.05 better than 2019. I am putting the bump at 0.913 under. |
Re: Number 128 Stock Qualifier @ Indy
