Clint Neff new design A/ED

It will be interesting to have some details of the new A/ED of Clint Neff.
Look like the front nose design of a Formula one car at first view, on NHRA TV. Chassis and body look very innovative from the foot protection bars to the front of this dragster.

Here a view of the nose.

Re: Clint Neff new design A/ED

I’d be curious if the front end is some sort of monocoque design….wish Joe Costello would do one of his interviews, if Neff is interested in sharing of course.

Matt Albright in Ohio was running a similar design that was built by Spitzer almost 20 years ago.

VERY INTERESTING.. I've heard of Harry Clack, and his innovations and accomplishments in the dragster world.. I'd be interested to know if he may have worked with, or for, Spitzer back then.. Clack does build fast stuff..

Good afternoon guys! 2 different concepts going on between the two with a large degree of management and adjustability. Come by at Dallas National and have a look. As talented as that group is..No Spitzer influences here.

Thank you Clack for the better quality photo and the added details...

Joe Costello said he is going to do a "Bits from the Pits" feature on the car this weekend.

I just saw the "Texas Nationals best engineering" video portion on NHRA TV about this Harry Clack creation. Simply an amazing piece...
And we didn't see an under car view yet ???

Enjoy,

That photo shows a more traditional tow strap, but at Dallas they had the nose hung on the back of a golf cart as you might see a junior dragster being towed.

Super cool car for sure!

Re: Clint Neff new design A/ED

You will find more photos of Clint Neff’s dragster that were put on Facebook by the builder, Mr. Harry Clack.
I must give some special thanks to Mr. Mark F. Brown for taking his time to share those photos.

You must see and study some construction details like:
-Base adjustable links for rear wing strut angle correction purpose
-Battery support cover.
-Base floor design and side black diffusors position
-Delta wing details
-Upper body “air extractor” near side foot X brace section
-Front foot X brace side panels center section junction disposition
-Width of the rear end (a little bit narrower than the old Mike Bos chassis craft design)
Side mounted canards at the back near the tires
At the end, the most intriguing part of our email exchange was that text:
This A/ED is a “work in progress”.
(You can click on those photos for a better view)
Enjoy,

Re: Clint Neff new design A/ED

If you want a deep dive with Darin Morgan on the engine used in this car watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecUDDydl0xs

It is over three hours long but most of the stuff about the Ford engine is towards the front. However tidbits are scattered through the entire interview.

I have got to think we will see this engine in Pro Stock someday.

Thanks 340Cuda, I have not finished to listen all this video but It's already quite a learning and exciting experience.

Does anyone know the status of a Pro Stock version of this engine is coming, if at all?

I believe Clint bought ALL the parts for this combo that Cunningham had ---Ford only made a very small amount of parts for this engine--- Read the article very interesting read----FED 387

This is from the Drag Illustrated article:

"Neff didn’t need to order any new pieces, noting Ford doesn’t keep the blocks and heads on their shelves. However, if somebody orders the parts, Ford will cast them."

I think the very long Darin Morgan interview gave me the impression that the parts could be had and that a Pro Stock engine was in the works. However enough time has passed I would have thought we would have seen something by now.

I believe it might be some of Cunningham's stuff, but probably a shorter crank.. Clint just won in Vegas, and is #1 qualifier in Pomona.. bad *** hot rod..

It's a 499" deal, the fact that it's that fast with a too big motor and a single non split 4500 is nuts.
It's gone 215, Book went 216 with 2 carbs and a clutch.
One of the Pro Stock check writers needs to write one to Ford, this thing would be a player

Re: Clint Neff new design A/ED

Another superb run by Clint Neff in the Harry Clack A/ED creation.
This time at the Texas Fall Nationals in Q2 at 6,504 sec at only 193,37 MPH.
How about a run of 0.716 under his personal index of 7,22 sec on an A/ED class index of 7,28 sec.
Simply amazing...:)

Las Vegas Ford Nationals, once again an great run for Clint Neff in the Harry Clack creation A/ED:
6,52 sec., with a 0,765 under in Q1 on a corrected altitude personal index of 7,29 sec. OMG

Still surprised this engine has not made it to Pro Stock yet.
