"Live" from Galot LODRS
Hi folks I'm jumping on a little late as we got here around 8:30 tonight just before the gates closed at 9 for parking and I see quite a few stacked outside the gate. It's pretty easy for me to see as I'm parked just inside the back gate because the place is packed!
I guess the 1/8 mile and 1000' didn't scare anyone away from this race that's for sure. The plan is to run the LODRS race Friday and Saturday then the NO race on Sunday then it's off to Charlotte for next weekend's national event. It's going to be an absolutely beautiful weekend weather wise with light NE winds and low humidity and no rain in the forecast. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated as I don't believe this race will be on the live feed. However I won't be giving away free Tshirts like Jack is at Maple Grove he must have a higher expense budget that I do! I'll have to talk to Ken about that but anyway it looks to be a great weekend of racing. I'll have more in the morning...... |

Good morning all. As promised a beautiful day here in the the sand hill of North Cakalaky. Stock has just finished their Q1 and we are moving right along. The schedule calls for 3 runs today and first round of eliminations in the morning. I'll have some sheets later.

Good news is Q sheets are up bad news both are wrong so I'm not even going to post. #1 Qualifier in Stock is 1.83 under and SS is 1.90 under so once they get that straight I'll post. Looks like 67 Stockers and 57 SS cars so far.

Good morning folks it's race day here at Galot and another gorgeous day. Carolina blue skies and a little nip in the air as it's a little chilly. Yesterday warmed up to the mid 80's and the same is expected today. With the warm sunshine brought out one of North Carolina's newest residents Dan Fletcher's favorite creature ....the gnats were alive and well yesterday afternoon!
Juniors are in the lanes for TT's then it's round 1 of eliminations. |

I apologize for the lack of reporting but I lost 2cd round and got a little side tracked after that. My family is here and we went out for dinner and enjoyed a great steak at a locally owned steakhouse called Heath's.
A couple of feel-good stories Jason McCandless won Stock in Mickey Whaley's old car. I think that is the first time it's been raced to my knowledge since Mickey passed away. And Joel Warren picked up the win in Comp racing for the first time since Ms Karen passed away a few weeks ago. Lots of bittersweet memories being made here today. I'll be here tomorrow for the National Open race and will post the ladders as they become available. |

Another note from Galot that was brought to my attention by Dave Leys, not Stock or SS but another bittersweet victory in Super Comp. Franklin DiBartolomeo won Super Comp Saturday in the LODRS race in our old friends Johnny D's car. Another Wally dedicated to the heavens I'm sure. We miss you Johnny D and congratulations to Franklin!

Out of curiosity, are they allowing 1/8 mile records(?), since we rarely see 1/8 runs. Thanks. |

I didn’t see anyone attempting to set a record at Galot, it will usually be posted ahead of time if record attempts will be supported. FYI that the Doorslammer Open (a D3 National Open) at Ohio Valley this coming weekend is a good spot for setting a 1/8 record, weather looks promising.
Galot has become one of my favorite tracks, they maintain the starting line exceptionally well and the D2 crew is top shelf. |
