Dont forget IHRA guys we are having a combo race at lakeland March 1st and 2nd. Give me a shout if you are interested in attending and need more info.

Gotta be careful with 'short' schedules... Last year, when the Div. 1 race at MIR looked like rain, a bunch of guys switched to Div. 3 because if they missed MIR, they had no flexibility left in their schedule.

I really liked Douglas, and came to like Steele at the Bracket Finals.

Man, IHRA's schedule is week for sure.. I know they are all doubles but what Mike B said..

Since IHRA took away the two races closest to me (Douglas and Steele) it pretty much makes up my mind for me...NHRA S/ST and bracket racing. Oh well, I really liked the two-race format in H/R.

The new (last year) track owner at Douglas may not have wanted it this year.

Hopefully the Divison 9 schedule will look better then Divison 2.
I was looking forward to going back to Steele, AL since it is about 2 hours from my house, and a good track to race at.

Kanawha Valley isn't on the Div 1 or 3 schedule either for this year. Whomever is running it must not want a points meet. It is a shame since that is the only dragstrip in my state. Glad to see that Quaker City is back though.

I was told that the "bottom line" wasn't enough to offset the hassle or the gamble (rain-outs) of having a Pro-Am event. But they did note that the lower than expected turnout in 2007 was probably due to all the fires in southeast Georgia. I will keep talking to the track manager in hopes of convincing him and the owners to reconsider. But it's probably too late for 2008.

I think that the track owners are the same. But the manager was changed.

Kanawha Valley was a single race, surrounded by double-headers. People filled up their points races with those double-headers. When the MIR double ran into rain, a bunch of guys switched to Div. 3. It all added up to killing the race. A similar thing happened to the New York International event - a single around all doubles, and scheduled on top of a National Open in New Jersey, and bad weather to boot.

Just rumor, but I heard that tracks needed to upgrade to concrete guardwalls instead of guardrail in order to have a Divisional.

I know many people coming from the Jax area faced over a 60-mi reroute just to get to the Douglas race last year, it was very smoky on the way in. Just bad luck. I forgot about the concrete wall issue, but that would not affect Steele, right?

Steele is just in a bad area for IHRA. Too far west for the carolina racers and too far east for div 4 racers.
I went last year and liked the place it was an easy ride for us. Long but easy. I would go back to Steele and Douglas if IHRA would.

What Chip said. The only reason I didn't go to Steele last year was I was also chasing some local points and had a conflict. No bracket points programs for me in '08, so I'd go to Steele, and I would go back to Douglas.
