How to make Sportsman Racer's Happier
If NHRA would at all the National Events pick one class of the Sportsman racers and open it up to a full field of 128. Really wouldn't add that much time to the schedule. Gator's would be a good one for Stock. Pick a National Event that class run off's are held in either Stock or Super/ Stock and run a full field. At the other Nationals pick one of the .90 classes. Simple solution to make a lot of racers happy. BP

Now, for the other classes, we would see a reduction in our quota to make room? (I'll use Gainesville as the example) LOL!! |

Re: How to make Sportsman Racer's Happier
I am not in favor of the lowered quotas. I am at grade 6 right now. So, it is a problem for me too.
I will go out on a limb and say that I think the NHRA is less concerned about space than they are about overhead. I'm sure that any delay is extremely expensive. More so in today's economy than any time before. If I had one agenda it would be to be able to race NHRA Stock Eliminator for as long as I am able. For that to happen, I need the NHRA to be solvent and to have someone to race against. |

If I understand what your saying we could have 128 and class at 1 Vegas and then low car count at the other Vegas with all the .90 cars that can get in.

Addiction Being The Opt Word Alright !!!! I still believe you can have 128 car fields at Gainesville. Most people that race the Baby Gators would stay for the Nationals. I’ve said this before, you have a 128 qualified field and run First Rd Off on the Monday before the National event leaving 64 cars to run the following weekend. It’s only 6 rds. |

Re: How to make Sportsman Racer's Happier
Billy not that this has anything to do with drag racing but it shows what others are willing to pay. When Roger Goodell's contract was up the last time. I said if they listed that job for about 5 million they would have a line 5 miles long with people just as qualified or more than him. The NFL owners pay him 63.9 million plus perks. Crazy I'd do it for a few million less BP

NHRA 2019 Tax Return
Summary of additional years' returns I'm no accountant but going from 90M+ in revenues for prior years to 39M in 2020 probably causes some puckering. |
Re: How to make Sportsman Racer's Happier
They bounced back pretty well in 2021.
No, they didn't. My bad. |
Re: How to make Sportsman Racer's Happier
I don't have returns prior to 2011 or after 2020, but in that period they
lost approx. 15.5 million. I don't know of a corporation that a) can lose that type of money given their regular or average net profits, or b) I would be tickled if I delivered that performance and got to keep my very good paying job. I don't know what it takes to run that company, but I know they have a very loyal client base, that will takes price increases with the normal complaining expected, but stands up and pays whatever the charges are. It would be interesting to see their operating report, to see profitability of National vs. LODRS for a given year, and then break it down by class. If a class does not pays it own way, then a change would have to be made. I think transparency would help us understand the challenges of running the association, and we might even have some ideas that could make serious financial improvements. There are some very smart and successful racers who could help. Our goals are the same, we need a strong and successful association. J.R. |

Maybe the suits should have to go out and get 8 grade points a year to keep their jobs.
