Re: Test your reflexes

:) I'm getting low .200's with a best of .172.

But before you start accusing me of cheating........you can depress the mouse button on "stop", just like a trans brake button, and then let go when the color changes!

It will "quick tree" you sometimes!

Bob Don 12-19-2007 05:02 PM

Re: Test your reflexes

Mid .200's with a best of .203.

Michael Beard 12-19-2007 05:23 PM

Re: Test your reflexes

Mostly .220's with a .195 best. (Dang, Myron, don't give away all the secrets!) I may try again later when the computer doesn't have so many processes running. ;-)

In my Applied Electronics class in college, we did some human reaction time experiments using an oscilloscope, and found that .210-.215 was pretty typical. I duplicated those results on my Final Round II using a Pro Tree and a .00 rollout.

I spilled my beer and I think the mouse is drunk.

Re: Test your reflexes

I did two rounds of ten. I had a best of a .171 and averaged a .195 using Myron's transbrake method. It does sometimes quick tree you!

How long is the plunger allowed to be on the given mouse? Blinded or unblinded?

Different brand mice can have different throws.
I suppose you can put a sheet of paper over the computer screen and just cut out the areas over the square and where you have to click!

Hmmmm? I wonder if turning up the contrast and brightness along with turning out the room light will help!

Re: Test your reflexes

Without having a ton of intensive applications running in the background today, my r/t's came down about .015, with a best of a .186 (duplicated 3 times). I'd say your computer's processor *is* a factor. Maybe I'll try it on my old 133mHz machine later to confirm.

This game also proves to me why I'm at least *one* guy that *shouldn't* block the tree, as I'm not very consistent. I'm both quicker and more consistent being able to see the full tree coming.

10 hits ... .172 fast to .218 slow ..average .203

I find I'm quicker reacting to orange and red and slow on green and blue.

Here's another reaction time site that is a little more entertaining...

I think I would be quicler if I knew what color it was changing to as well. It takes a few thousandths to process the color in addition to the fact that it changed.

Michael Beard 12-20-2007 04:18 PM

Re: Test your reflexes

.187 best on that, too.... guess that's all I've got!

Re: Test your reflexes

Sorry Vic.... it's an old program. Still works great on my old Windows 95 machine, but I can't get it to work on my Vista machine. Tinkered with it on XP a couple of times, but I'm not as sure of the timing system on it. My old partner, Mark Towslee did the programming for it. I just did the sound and graphics for it. I may have to pester him about it sometime.

Re: Test your reflexes

OK I gave it a try .188, .219, .203, then 6.583 what the?
I let go because I got tired of waiting. Found out it was because I couldn't see the color change. The change from one color to the other didn't register in my brain! I may have some color blindness.
I had better reactions when there was more contrast between the colors.
I wonder if our reaction times would differ if NHRA used a different color for each bulb?

Tried a shim (business card) under the button. Improved to .172

Somebody would figure out what shade of sunglasses work best with any particular color!

My final project in my Applied Electronics back in college was a 2-player instant-green reaction time game. No timers, just win lights, whole thing done on a breadboard. I don't think I beat my dad more than once. I'm worthless on a Pro tree. On a full tree, it's just the opposite. I'm physically slow-reacting, but adaptable. It's always fascinated me how different people's brains work. Like TG, Legend, and I all drive the starting line completely different, but we come up about the same.

I "shimmed" my mouse & got a whole lot better. .017 was the best

Re: Test your reflexes

Ok I can get the mouse rerouted to the ground so I can actuate it with my clutch foot but the stapler isn't making a very good shifter/line lock set up. :D
