New rule, a one inch visor strip is now LEGAL

OMG, I feel so SAFE now , I won’t need to worry about someone running over me while they are driving through the pits…..SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY !!!!!!

Wait, you have to wear your helmet in the pits driving to the lanes?

Just put the blinder rule back in !!!!! There were guys at no problem running with tape all over the sides of their shields & nothing was said. This is all bs. Put it back like it was & almost everyone will be happy

Being in the insurance world for many many years the term" Liability" for all concerns by NHRA comes in mind for the reason for using a sensible blinder

Here’s an idea and rule that I think will solve the problem.

Racers must stop on the return road immediately after exiting the track. And remove or move blinders out of the way.(take helmet off if blinder is on helmet visor, flip up out of the way if mounted to the roll cage ect) To prevent an obstructed view.

I don’t use a blinder. But this seems like an extremely easy thing to solve (people getting hit in the pits by cars due to blinders) and keep the racers happy. It shouldn’t be this complicated.

On my RACE QUIP full face helmet, the top of the shield in the closed position is approximately 1" above the opening in the helmet. The helmet comes from the manufacturer with a 1" black tape across the top of the shield with RACE QUIP logo. On this particular model, the net change in visibility as a result of the amendment is ZERO. Just some info ........

Not sure ? Maybe NHRA must show intent for the insurance company.

Make hood scoops illegal for pit safety reasons.

Other than Comp does any one else use a full tree? There is no reason to have a blinder in any of the super classes as they are on a pro tree with both sides coming on at the same time.

Is that 1/4” off tape as removed from pkg? Sure looks like somebody with too much time on their hands created that. Just look at the rivets.

I think the link was something of a joke. I don't see anyone saying that the offshore tapes are less accurate than the 'Made in USA' versions.

Well........, since this thread has morphed from visor "blinders" to tape measures, I'll add this tidbit that I never knew until about 3 years ago:
