Re: Ed Fernandez passes
So sorry to hear this. I used to bracket race with Ed in the 80s, before he went class racing. He later moved by me and drove a wrecker where I would see him around often. The last time I saw him was last fall, he came to my fire dept car show and he was very moved to win the fireman's choice award. He loved talking class racing and all the characters on this site. He made for some interesting reads or posts on here.
God speed Ed. |

Re: Ed Fernandez passes
Boy, sure sorry to hear that news. Just thought about him the other day because I was nearing a date when I would be near NJ again.
I got to meet Ed about 4 years ago when I was attempting to put together a similar type of stocker AMC. He welcomed me to his house, fed me really good, and we talked for hours. He offered up advice freely on the combo and wasn't afraid to question a lot of things I had done to the car. He was stubborn and outspoken, but certainly genuine, and what posts you see from him on here can clue you in to the kind of guy he was. Ed loved racing, loved being the underdog, and loved his country. New Jersey--maybe not so much. He helped me out a lot in various ways, not all of it had to do with racing either, luckily I was able to do him a good turn or two on old Rambler parts I had to get his station wagon project onto the street, and I will miss him. My condolences to his wife who was sweet as could be, and to his family. |

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I always enjoyed talking to him when venturing to E-Town or Atco. Got a chance to drive the Gremlin under Eric's ownership. Fun, consistent car. Condolences to his family. RIP Ed.

Re: Ed Fernandez passes
Sad news, I remember Eds American Grafitti Gremlin when it was painted black at NY National Speedway and Westhampton Dragway in the 70's. He lived in Queens and eventually moved to NJ and ran mostly at Etown. My dad and Ed would always chat. He was a funny guy, I always wondered how he raced with that cigar in his mouth.....lmao. RIP
