“Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
I made the drive from the Mpls, Mn area to the races at Las Vegas. I couldn’t get in the Gators, and this has been a “bucket list” track to race at, so why not. Parking seemed to go very quickly this morning and there are still many wide open places to park in. Qualifying begins tomorrow at 8:00 with Stock, following the normal schedule. The weather is perfect and the daily air show is spectacular.

Welcome to Vegas Dan! You're sure right on the quick parking. Weather is looking great as well. Always windy in the spring time around here. The barometer is in the sub basement right now. Can only get better. It probably will Saturday morning at dial in time. See you all tomorrow.

I'll be out for the divisional Dan, good luck this weekend!

Sticking around for the double??
Duh! I read the title! We’ll swing by to see you. |
Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Started on time at 8:00 this morning. Traction was good for me and others that I talked to. The wind changes directions everyday, head wind this morning. More later.

The youth of today still enjoy cars. They were about 10 buses of younger teens. They were very nice asking questions. Fans in the stands second round. Had to look!

Things sure did change between the first and second session in SS.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Everything is done for the day. I didn’t see any mishaps or issues, the two Pro sessions went fast and trying to watch 4 at a time is different. NHRA did a good job on track prep from what I observed. First round starts at 8:00 with Stock.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
There was a very strong headwind for everyone in Q1. By the time we ran Q2 there wasn't much wind. Now I see the barometer has jumped way up this morning. Oh Boy!

SS 1st Rd. this morning. Primetime matchup: Bertozzi/Lamb. Worth a third cup of Joe and 'crimpets'!

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Watching on NHRATV, these intermissions are horrible! Just play music and leave the stupid crap out of racing!
|
Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
That’s one thing I like about the updated NHRA.TV broadcasting, tune in late and then easily advancing past the stupid parts. With all the cameras they bring I’d really like to hear audio and video on the last 100 feet.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Weather was about the same as Friday. Same headwind with a much better barometer. The schedule was doing pretty good until a Funny car had a near 2 hour oil down. hard to complain when the weather is perfect for socializing. Specially when you're pitted with Paul Wong. I think I attended conversation meetings with three different division reps. Had to squeeze in a nap after.

As normal cream came to the top. Going to have to start drinking my coffee black. Amazing spot racing or what ever that is. Have to learn that method some day. Good job Kyle.

Pleasantly surprised to see DRC is posting results. Will be interesting to see the car counts.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Can someone verify that Caleb Hansen is at Vegas this weekend. He was in New Jersey last weekend at the Division 1 race there. That is some trip.

Ron, Caleb is there running Super Stock with the Dart.
52 6826 SS/H Caleb Hansen, Monclova OH, '68 Dart 10.354 10.68 -0.326 Always enjoyed talking to him and his Dad. I think that is the same Dart that they set a record with in Stock at Woodburn some years ago. |
Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Q-1 we had a 15mph head wind. Made some great wheelies but not so good on the E.T.. Q-2 just a slight tailwind. I personally picked up .11 and over 2mph.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
I just noticed Cal Method's daughter Kathy is running in C/SA as a yenko LT-1 350. I don't think I've ever seen a 70 Yenko Nova with a 350. So what is this combo 12 1/2 compression aluminum intake with a 780 Holley. I beleive Mr. Norm built a tri-powered 340 Demon. I'm sure he would've added compression too.

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
that info is incorrect, it’s the same LT1 that came in the Camaro. It’s not 12.5 to 1 check the spec sheet before sending out incorrect info

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Feel free to worry about my spec being used. Fast car!

Re: “Live” from Las Vegas 4 Wide and Double Divisional
Thanks again Paul for keeping the thread going. For anyone who hasn’t been following the “Jimmy and George Most Excellent Adventure” they have posted some great videos, enjoyed this one from Vegas. Nice to see Mick and Jackie Alley out and of course seeing Jared’s rapid Dodge in B trim, “Uncle Don”, Justin Jerome’s new car, and a host of others.
