“Live” from Bristol 2023!
We are here and stacked #12! It has been a beautiful day in the 70’s. We ran into a little problem with a leak while sitting in the rest area in Beckley WV last night and it pumped all our water out! So we have had to get water, propane and plumbing parts today. But my McGyver got everything going again!
Rigs have been pulling in all day including those coming from Epping! Jim and Pam Marshall got here around 6:30. Lots of Pro rigs too. We get to sit here in the rain tomorrow then get parked on Thursday! Had a good dinner tonight with Jim and Pam and Alice and Joe Tysinger at the Mad Greek! Great food and desserts! Patsy More later! I think the Boss is going to be here and East Coast Cooter too! |

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
Hey guys, we are here at Bristol Motor Speedway in the stacking area, at the Thunder Valley Nationals. Its raining today, but the rest of the week looks great with temps in the mid to upper 70's and no rain in the forecast. Here is my first part of the trip as we roll into Bristol...

Ken we made that journey over the mountain back in 1983 pulling 67 super sport Nova. In brother inlaws ford truck that was fairly new. When we got back to houston, truck had about 18,000 miles on it. Transmission was fried, brakes were done, the 302 motor was done (no oil pressure), the truck was 1/2 ton with no towing package how stupid could we be back then LOL.He traded truck in as soon as we got to houston.

Parking starts at 800am, stacking is almost full. Almost 8% of the entry’s in stock are current or former world champs. It should be a fun race. Two run’s Friday and four round’s Saturday. Sunday semi’s and finals.

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
We all run the same road and attend a lot of the same races but when the Boss does his video it just makes it more exciting.

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
Parking went well for the first nine rigs. Number 10 inline, the taxi cab hauler, the driver of the rig was no where to be found. Joe Tysinger did a great job of backing up and threading the needle between two rigs to get out. We backed up to give him room to maneuver. Then we got the go a head to turn around and go inside.
The track look very nice all green and very hilly. |
Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
One of the best parts of racing is the exchange of ideas from other racers and engine builders. Suspension, tires, and track prep are usually at the top of the list.

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
Are you running stock or s/s ?

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
Stock. We should qualify a little better than Chicago. Plus there are few cars in FS/D

Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!
After parking and everyone was getting settled in the fishing poles appeared. Quite a few folks went fishing in the stream that runs through the pit area. Cooter, the champ, and his son spent a lot of the day trying to catch the limit.
There is a big H-D dresser motorcycle contingent that as soon as they were parked the bikes were unloaded and they were off enjoying the mountain roads. The boss , Ken , came by and showed us his new Honda pit ride. Stock is out first at 9:30 AM. The scales at three different tracks have been within five pounds. There should be no surprise at the scales. |
Re: “Live” from Bristol 2023!

Hey guys, the sportsman are done for the day along with the factory showdown cars. Also there were no FX cars here. They were supposed to run an exhibition race, but from what I could gather no cars are finished.
Here is Larry Hills 2015 Drag Pak, the first photo is Q2, Larry did not get a handle on the starting line, maybe he could chime in. I did see a hand full of Stock and Super Stockers spin. The last photo is a complete wiring diagram for the Drag Pak, you got love when you know were every wire and sensor goes. |
